Merge discussion
[edit]On my watchlist i saw a merger of several Alaska "counties"/regions NRHP lists into this article, and then also reversions by an editor who disagreed. Let's discuss. My offhand rough count is that this "Panhandle" combo includes about 103 NRHP listings, which in my view is a good size. One of the merged lists had just 2 entries. The Alaska Panhandle is a meaningful term. I'm open either way but would lean towards merging. What are pros and cons? doncram (talk) 03:53, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- I already started the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places, which is more visible. I think it's very dumb to have such small county/borough lists, and, while state lists are too long, regional lists are of a good size. Nyttend claims that nowhere else splits this way and counties are a national pattern (not quite: National Register of Historic Places listings in Puerto Rico is very nice), and I say we need to change the whole country then. - Okay, I see that it is a general issue. Let's discuss for now at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places #Individual county articles. doncram (talk) 04:22, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- I am back because i am doing disambiguation and find two Juneau list-articles with link to Wickersham House dab, one for Juneau separately and one this Alaska Panhandle list's Juneau subsection.
- The discussion there in December (archived at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/Archive 35#Individual county articles seemed to come to conclusion that this combo, somewhat modified as "Southeast Alaska" should be allowed. But it wasn't implemented, it seems, as separate NRHP list-articles for Juneau, etc., exist now, de-merged. Which version has been updated since then with new NRHP listings? It may be easier to implement the decision by regrouping the current versions of separate borough lists, if those were updated. --doncram (talk) 00:57, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- This has been open for ages. No clear consensus for the merge so I undid it. Multichill (talk) 12:45, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
