Wonder why the page still looks like an advertisement
[edit]I believe the page does not look like an advertisement, like it used to a year or so ago. I have removed this from the issues that show up on top. If anyone still thinks that it looks like an advertisement, please let me know why, and I can edit out that content. Thanks! (talk) 15:01, 13 February 2014
Some of the sections are bad
[edit]- In the Rankings section, it says "NITK Surathkal was ranked the 1st best institute in the country for engineering in 2002". i wonder if it's true. If it is, then someone should provide a link. -Barun —Preceding unsigned comment added by Barun2u (talk • contribs) 12:09, August 27, 2007 (UTC)
well I was just wondering if we could redo this article Read the "about the institute" aragrah. Its way too corny! Vijeth 14:47, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree completely. Am removing all funda-sounding bits and trying to base it on the MIT article. Please feel free to comment, suggest etc. (Batch of '96) Deepakshenoy 07:43, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- Reorged again, some lines were lost when "Cool Sandy" edited the page. Also have removed some content which looks marketing-ish. Can we reduce the text that seems to glorify KREC, rather than give facts? I am an alumnus, but I don't think this is a forum for advertising. Deepakshenoy 11:16, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- Grammatical changes made; edited for repetition of sentences/facts. History section needs a redo.Rajesh 03:15, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Making this encyclopaedic
[edit]I'd like to make this article more encyclopaedic and something we can be proud of. I am a KRECian from 96 and will, over the next few months, try to help with adding more relevant content. In the process some things will have to change, like unnecessary bolding of text, and adding new heads like infrastructure and ranking. Let us provide as much information as possible. Deepakshenoy 05:24, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Someone please add entries for Incident and Engineer. Lesser culfests and techfests have entries here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.227.182.13 (talk • contribs)
- You can do this yourself, that's what Wikipedia is all about. Deepakshenoy 08:11, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Notable alumni page
Please add names of famous alumni. So, if you're an alumnus [ ex krecian/ nitkian], and if you're famous, please tell your friends to add your name[ self promotion is banned on wikipedia]Logik 07:08, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- The link to NIT Kurukshetra - Reasons
The wiki search for NITK was directed to a disambiguation page showing links to both the Surathkal, and the Kurukshetra articles, which by popular usage is wrong. I have removed this disambig citing this as my reasons Talk:Nitk . Please go through. Now, not to inconvenience the wiki readers who search for NITK, intending to read the kurukshetra article, I have put a link at the top of this article. Check the recent edit.
Overall, this is, I feel, is a better way to acknowledge the fact that most people refer to Surathkal's NIT as NITK, however for those who don't, they are never more than one wiki-link away.Abhishekupadhya (talk) 16:56, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Names in Different languages
[edit]Names in Hindi, Tulu, Malayalam, etc are not needed. English and Kannada should do. If you want to add any names, kindly discuss here first. Yes Michael? •Talk 18:17, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
