It appears to me that Lafaiji's notability stems entirely from his role in the NDLEA, and his wrongful conviction for conspiracy and conversion, which is not currently even mentioned in the article about him. That controversy is however documented in the NDLEA article. I propose that the Bello Lafiaji article should be replaced by a redirect to the NDLEA article, which can then be expanded with some of the content from the Lafiaji article. The redirect can be tagged with {{Redirect with possibilities}}. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 11:45, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi @Curb Safe Charmer: I think he is probably notable assuming the references support an article. Taking a looking at somebody in the UK, in a similar situation e.g. Lynne Owens Director-General of the National Crime Agency. Here is Keith Bristow, who was the first DG. So it I think it would be seen as an important position in the any national police organisation in any country. So I think he is probably notable. He also looks like one of the these insider types, you read about, that is doing more than is seen and it will all come out as times goes on, 30-50 years up the road when the archives are opened. scope_creepTalk 11:00, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Scope creep: thanks, and those comparisons are useful. I will expand the article on Lafiaji with content from the NDLEA article about his dismissal and wrongful conviction. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 12:33, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Bello Lafiaji article has since been deleted as G5, and I have now recreated it as a redirect to this article. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:42, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
