Lead

[edit]

With regards to the addition of the murder details to the lead, I am convinced that the assassination could be mentioned elsewhere in the article. As La Russophobe commented to Robert Amsterdam's blog entry on the event, the killing is a price of cowardice. Its coverage does not summarize the person's deeds. I remember Putin said that the murder of Politkovskaya rather than her work made her well-known. I despised that remark. Let's not weigh Estemirova's deeds against anonymous cowardice.--ilgiz (talk) 16:07, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. The only reason this article even exists is because of the assassination, and it's obvious that the details should be in the lead since the murder is what 90% of the article is about. Also, I just want to point out that citing the opinion of a self-described hate mongering bigot like La Russophobe as justification to change the article isn't going to get you very far in convincing people. I can't care what Putin says or implies, just as I can't care who you hate or why when making an edit in wikipedia.
WP:LEAD refers lead section should include all important details in article shortly, we should also mention her deeds in the lead a bit more in a summary style. I tried to make lead cover more detail, yet it may be a bit long so it may require more summarizing. Kasaalan (talk) 19:30, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also you may add Putin's comment into article if you have a Reliable Source covering it. Kasaalan (talk) 19:39, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
