Melolabial

[edit]

Despite being copied all over the internets, I doubt this is a correct term. I failed to find any Latin word for 'cheek' which start with mel-. - Altenmann >talk 03:53, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Also this text says "melolabial folds or marionette lines are often treated at the time of nasolabial fold injection", i.e. the two are diferent. --Altenmann >talk 23:54, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some other text says "Marionette lines draw the corners of the mouth downwards , making the face appear to be sad." It e. marionette lines go from the lip corner downwards. --Altenmann >talk 00:02, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I guess there is the interference with "melomental" for "marionette lines". And melo+mental my wild guess is from "melas"="black, dark" like in melanin, i.e., "lines of 'dark mental state'" (of sad marionettes). --Altenmann >talk 00:28, 20 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is sad and worrying that cosmetic surgeons grade poor in Classical languages :-(

  • :-( this is melolabial
  • :-) this is gelolabial :-)

Worrying because it looks like cosmetic ones are surgeons that flunked Latin :-) --Altenmann >talk
