Ryan White CARE Act

[edit]

The source cited for her co-authorship of the Ryan White CARE Act of 1990 does not mention her status as an author. She is often cited an important proponent of the act but does not have proven authorship, at least on accessible sources. She is not listed a sponsor or cosponsor of S.2240, the bill that was passed, on congress.gov. She might be listed in the bill itself. 150.243.217.74 (talk) 03:43, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In addition: she is not a senator, so she couldn't possibly be a cosponsor of the Senate bill, which is the one that was passed. She was therefore influential either in deliberation with interest and advocacy groups or in pushing forward the House bill. She may have written parts of the House bill that were incorporated into the Senate bill during compromises, but there's no way to know without reading through the hearings and floor debates and committee discussions. Whatever happened, it can't be accurately claimed that she coauthored the Ryan White CARE Act of 1990 (S.2240), as it came from the Senate. 150.243.207.201 (talk) 02:27, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nancy Pelosi 2013-2014

[edit]

Please add the following information to Nancy Pelosi's page under the heading "Second tenure as minority leader (2011-2019)" and below "On November 14, 2012, Pelosi announced that she intended to remain Democratic leader":

Pelosi has added her voice to the chorus of lawmakers calling for the Washington Redskins to change their team name.[1][2] She said that it's time for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to step in and tell the National Football League that it can't keep its registered trademark for the Washington Redskins, a term that's a racial slur for Native Americans.[3][4][5] 138.88.222.231 (talk) 15:24, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
