Lists of episodes

[edit]

I don't think that long lists of TV episodes including details of every guest should be in a WP:BLP. I'm not sure that they qualify for standalone lists either, but am suggesting a split into two list articles of the programs, if they are to remain on Wikipedia at all. Thank you for raising your concerns. However, these episode lists serve more than a mere directory function—they provide verifiable context illustrating Namila Benson’s role and influence within the Australian arts scene. As the ABC airs a limited number of dedicated arts programs, documenting each guest artist featured during her tenure as host is both historically and culturally significant. These listings are effectively primary source material that help trace the breadth of Australia’s contemporary art landscape over the past four years, showing the scope of her professional contributions and the network of artists who have appeared on her programs.
In line with Wikipedia’s policies, the information is sourced from reliable, independent references. The detail is not extraneous trivia; rather, it is directly related to the subject’s professional work, integral to her notability, and supported by media coverage. The inclusion of these lists is well within WP:NOTDIRECTORY standards when such content is relevant, reliably sourced, and provides encyclopedic value. Moreover, because this aspect of her career is central to her public recognition and academic interest in the arts, removing or splitting these lists would needlessly fragment the content and diminish readers’ understanding of Benson’s significant role as a presenter and cultural contributor.
In short, these curated lists of episodes and guests are contextually appropriate and policy-compliant. They help illustrate why Benson is a notable figure in the Australian arts sphere, rather than merely cataloging appearances. Unless there are specific policy-based objections to the reliability or relevance of the sourced material, retaining the lists on her page is both justifiable and beneficial to the encyclopedia’s comprehensiveness. Hi Nichollas Harrison. Thanks for your response. I understand what you are saying, but we still have to follow policy, and (although I cannot find a specific policy right now), BLPs do not typically carry long lists of individual episodes, and, as far as I can see, the individual episodes are not cited with regard to the guests' names, etc. What about creating an article called Art Works, per MOS:TV, and linking from this article to that one? You could still cover it in prose in this article, with selected or notable episodes. I don't want to lose the info either, but if I don't clobber it, there is always the chance or likelihood that another editor will just remove the tables. However, feel free to invite discussion - perhaps post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Biography for some experts in biographies to comment here?
