Notability

[edit]

@Ldm1954:, you tagged this article with notability. Could you please evaluate the requirements for WP:PROF? I would you happy if you please explain how you determine notability criteria for academic biographies? TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 09:18, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the criteria. His Google Scholar h-index of 23 is too low for #C1, and while he has national awards there is no evidence for #C2 or others. It is your responsibility to prove notability.
Also the sentence "Throughout his academic career, he contributed to understanding material behavior under stress and developed advanced theoretical frameworks in applied mechanics." looks like an error, there is no evidence of that. Ldm1954 (talk) 09:30, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ldm1954: According to WP:NACADEMIC criteria #2, #3, and #6, the subject meets notability requirements. However, I am concerned about your NPP procedure, as it seems the provided sources and the article may not have been carefully reviewed. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 09:39, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry, but there is no evidence for #C3 or #C6. I think you have misunderstood C6, this has been discussed at Wikipedia talk:Notability (academics). BLP for academics is quite strict, it has to be.
Rereading, maybe #C2. However there are some major problems as the page claims he is known for work in engineering and MSE, but he never published on either. This needs to be repaired., I have tagged them for you. Ldm1954 (talk) 09:59, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ldm1954:, you failed to acknowledge your disasterous NPP behaviour. As i can understand, your NPP log needs to be re-reviewed by other NPP users. Better to ping @Joe Roe:. You also tagged career section with "verification failed". It is accurately sourced. I am concerned about your NPP misuse. TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 11:07, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are making completely incorrect statements; please be more careful. If you read the comment field of the tagging you will see that it is specific to the inaccurate claims about mechanical engineering and MSE. Rather than threatening me, I suggest that you explain why the page contains blatantly false information. If that was an honest mistake where you confused him with someone else, that is OK. Ldm1954 (talk) 12:36, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just rechecked every source, and not one claims mechanical engineering or MSE. Unless you delete them immediately I will. Ldm1954 (talk) 12:44, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Partial cleanup

[edit]

For the record:

  1. I have removed claims that he worked in mechanics/materials science. Not only is this never claimed in the sources, there is no evidence in his papers.
  2. I have added a proper reference for his thesis, it was easy to find.
  3. Many of the sources have almost verbatim the same material, it appears to be duplication of CV material he provided. Independent sources please.
  4. I have removed significant peacock and corrected claims about his awards.

New users of course make simple mistakes, but I do not think experienced ones should. Ldm1954 (talk) 18:51, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
