Walled garden

[edit]

This article is the nexus of a walled garden of content related to Kanso, primarily created by User:Navlodan, who I suspect of having a close personal connection to the artist. Problems with this and related articles include:

  • Citations to a series of websites (nabilkanso.com, nabilkanso.org, apocalypsepainting.com, splitoflife.com, lebanonpainting.com) which due to their similar content and presentation, I believe to be created and managed by Kanso or members of his estate; i.e. the original writings on them are self-published sources and non-independent.
  • One thing to be said in favor of these sites is that they have collected and archived a number of reliable source publications about Kanso which would otherwise not be internet accessible. What's not okay is that some of these sources are non-English and the text in the original language is unavailable or illegible, yet Nabil Kanso presents English-language "quotations" as verbatim critical commentary. Since the original text is inaccessible, we cannot verify that the translations provided by these sites are accurate, and in any case translations should not be presented as verbatim quotes.
  • Most of the articles about individual works or series of works by Kanso are poorly referenced. It's unclear whether they have received significant coverage in reliable sources sufficient to meet WP:GNG.
  • The articles have significant amounts of subjective interpretation presented as facts, in violation of WP:OR and WP:NPOV. All interpretations of Kanso's works must be attributed to reliable secondary sources.
