Oldest New York (City) LUG
[edit]Can we say "Of note, NYLUG is the oldest Linux User Group in the greater New York Area according to http://www.luny.org/ " —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brandorr (talk • contribs) 18:30, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
That's a slight misreading of the LUNY page. NYLUG is the oldest NYC LUG. The oldest LUG in the greater NY area is probably(?) LILUG.
First official LILUG meeting was in Dec 1998, and according to wikipedia entry on NYLUG the first meeting was held in Jan 1999. By this metric LILUG is older but really they are approximately same age. DotCOMmie (talk) 02:22, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm... Wondering how to phrase it. Thinking two options. Feel free to add others:
- "NYLUG is the oldest LUG in New York City."
- "NYLUG, along with it's sister LUG, LILUG in Long Island, New York, are the oldest LUGs in the Greater New York City metropolitan area."
I'm thinking the first one is clearer, and less of a mouthful. Brandorr (talk) 16:06, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I went ahead and added #1 to the article. Brandorr (talk) 02:46, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
