Cuban-American
[edit]Is he a Greek-American? I'm asking because there is no info concerning his family background, Nestor is a name of an ancient Greek hero and he... looks Mediterranean... 77.49.225.51 19:46, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Nestor is actually a Cuban-American, as stated in the article.
Also, he co-starred in Andy Garcia's The Lost City. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.242.72.76 (talk) 00:03, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Lost Season 4 Regular
[edit]Is there any official source for the claim that Nestor was ever offered a role as a regular for season 4? I'm pretty sure this was just a rumour. I'm no expert on how the system works, but surely he'd have been mad to pass up this kind of role if it was offered, considering salary and job security and suchlike.
Anyway, unless anyone has any objections I'm taking that part out. ChesterKilburn (talk) 11:21, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Mildly stupid suggestion but it is starting to qualify for vaguely notable - is there any way to make the words 'No, he does not wear eyeliner' encyclopedic? 75.39.15.138 (talk) 15:50, 29 July 2008 (UTC)MD
- Everyone seems to comment on that - the question most of the time seems not to be "Does he wear eyeliner" but rather "WHY does he wear eyeliner?". I think it's fairly evident that his eyes just look like that naturally, and let's face it, it looks kinda awesome. As to whether it could be put into the article, I'm not sure. I can imagine lots of people protesting that it's not noteworthy, but I reckon if I tried I could find a massive amount of online references to the supposed 'eyeliner'.
- There was a similar discussion on the Talk page for Cillian Murphy regarding his blue eyes. The conclusion was to mention it in the opening sentence of the article. However, with Carbonell I'm not sure if that would be appropriate, since there's been no actual verification from the man himself as to whether or not he does wear eyeliner. If the article could say something like "there is a common misconception that Carbonell wears eyeliner" with appropriate sources and proof of notability and suchlike, then fine, but to my knowledge he's never remarked upon it. That said, in the absence of an image it really would help to jog people's memories. ChesterKilburn (talk) 20:26, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
In answer to the 'eyeliner' question, a recent interview with Lost's producers revealed this:
DS: Can you ask your make-up department to cut down on the eye make-up for Nestor? It looks like he’s got more than the rest of the cast put together…
Damon: "Do you want to hear something shocking? And this is the honest truth. When we first saw dailies of Nestor, we said that someone has got to talk to him about the eyeliner situation – but he does not wear any eyeliner or mascara. He is completely sans make-up. That’s the truth."

Also see this interview: http://scifiwire.com/2009/01/whats-up-with-losts-nestor-carbonell-not-aging-and-the-guyliner.php, where carbonell states he doesn't wear eyeliner. 24.193.51.120 (talk) 03:46, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- I would say that him stating it should be listed as a 'confirmation', but merely as him stating that he doesn't wear it. The LOST source sounds better if it's completely verifiable by a notable source... Luminifer (talk) 06:40, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Is it right to say he is "best known" for Suddenly Susan??? I know him best from Lost and The Tick. 75.178.188.246 23:14, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Is it appropriate to say "perhaps best known for" anything? Look at the article on Terry O'Quinn for counterexample. I'm reluctant to be the one to make the edit, but this looks like weasel words by someone with a Lost agenda. 66.216.234.115 (talk) 02:32, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
It is appropriate — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1aleksey (talk • contribs) 13:35, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
Accent in "Suddenly Susan"
[edit]I found it interesting that Carbonell plays his character in this sitcom with a Spanish (from Spain) accent, which he does not have in everyday life. Since I only saw a few episodes of the show, I don't know if his character was supposed to be from Spain, but I assume he must have been. His "Suddenly Susan" character is actually the only recurring character I have ever heard on a US television program who speaks English with an accent characteristic of Spain. You can really hear it in his pronunciation of the "s", which is very different in Peninsular Spanish from the "s" pronunciation in most Latin American varieties, perhaps with the exception of parts of Colombia. If nothing else, this is an interesting factoid... I haven't followed Carbonell in other shows, but in clips I saw of him in "Lost" he speaks Spanish with a more or less generic educated Latin American accent. --Potosino (talk) 03:06, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
