2011 Busan International Film Festival

[edit]

You guys had wrote "It premiered at the 2011 Busan International Film Festival." In fact, the movie didn't have its premiere at the Busan International Film Festival, just its first press conference which I attended. I linked to the Q&A I transcribed as a reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.222.95.27 (talk) 11:48, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Based on a True Story"

[edit]

When the opening credits rolled, "Based on a true story" appears.

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of any other written materials, or the "original documentary" that is referenced on the front page of this Wiki. Either way, I'd like to see this brought up and explored further in this discussion.

The best known case was Kyoungjong Yang who emigrated to the US in 1947 after being released from a POW camp in Britain. He died in 1992. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.221.240.20 (talk) 00:54, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I checked the Olympic marathon results for 1948. The highest any Korean finished was in the mid-twenties. "Based on a True Story" is apparently meant in the very widest sense. Kyoungjong Yang, however, did follow the general war trajectory of the movie.211.225.39.71 (talk) 11:06, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say at best it's inspired by a true story. The Soviet Prison camps and two guys per rifle in 1941 December? The Japanese suicide trucks? The Korean bomb in the party? All made up. 213.100.108.86 (talk) 03:30, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think that line refers to the Koreans captured at Normandy and throughout France. There were a pretty good number of them.
