No mention here of the wonderful German and Hungarian polka clubs that existed in the city in the era 1910-1940? Surely the polka is Milwaukee's greatest gift to American music, and I dare say bands like the Bodeans, Violent Femmes, and Oil Taster were influenced by the ompa-ompa polka scene, in spirit if not lyrically.
