Synthesizer ?
[edit]The Clavioline page has it that it was "a forerunner to the analog synthesizer". This one here has it that it preceded the Clavioline, yet calls itself a synth. ??? --Jerome Potts (talk) 13:32, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well known "invention of Moog synthesizer in 1964" is only about beginning of Moog synthesizer product. Buchla built his first synthesizer in previous year, and Harald Bode developed his modern analog modular synthesizer in 1959-1960. Also RCA Mark II Sound Synthesizer in 1957 and Siemens Synthesizer in Siemens Studio in 1955 may be synthesizers.
- In truth, the history of analog subtractive synthesizer technology began in 1930s. For example, Trautonium in 1929, Harald Bode's Warbo Formant Organ in 1937, and Hammond Novachord in 1939 had already equipped analog synthesizer components such as oscillators, filter, envelope controller (except for early Trautonium), and even though polyphonic (except for Trautonium). Thus these instruments should be called synthesizer. Also Multimonica meets such criteria. --Clusternote (talk) 03:00, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
