Single system?

[edit]

The term Single System is used several times in the article but never explained. It seems significant to the subject so should be either defined or linked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.174.146.70 (talk) 23:58, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lee DeForest a "Failed Inventor" ??

[edit]

An author writes, "DeForest, a failed inventor but a master promoter, spent his life convincing people he'd invented sound film." In fact, Lee DeForest invented and patented the first film sound technique. DeForest is widely heralded for inventing the vacuum tube, which led to inexpensive and high quality radio and sound amplification (etc). He was granted over 180 patents for his myriad inventions. The IEEE gives an annual inventor's medal in his name. DeForest is one of America's greatest inventors. I removed this bit about a "failed inventor" and have no idea why someone would have said something so entirely wrong and backwards. Also added Refimprove banner for numerous unreferenced claims throughout article. 24.7.140.100 (talk)

Needs mention of ERPI

[edit]

The significant involvement of the Bell Electrical Research Products Incorporated division is completely ignored—a very important part of the history here. Ctbeiser (talk) 02:06, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
