Piston engine thrust
[edit]The current history section references turbojet engines supplanting the motorjet partially due to not having "the additional weight of a piston engine that generated no thrust." But the piston engine on a motorjet is providing thrust. At least, it's doing useful compression work that leaves greater energy in the exhaust stream which is available for thrust. If you switched off the post-compressor combustion, you'd have a form of ducted fan which does provide thrust on its own. I'm not sure of the clearest way to modify the wording to reflect this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.231.42.101 (talk) 10:52, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
