[edit]It's essentially the same protest as the last one, could they not be contained within a single article? Perhaps "2021 Groundswell NZ protests" or something of the like? --Pokelova (talk) 08:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for your feedback, Pokelova. Groundswell NZ is an organisation that has organised at least three protest campaigns including the Howl of a Protest campaign and the Mother of All Protests. They may be protesting over similar issues but they are basically separate campaigns. Plus, they are pretty lengthy and Wikipedia does have limits on space and length. For comparison, the various protests associated with the Black Lives Matter movement (such as the Ferguson unrest, Breonna Taylor protests, and George Floyd protests) are grouped in their own articles instead of putting them under one single article, given their widespread national and international reach. Thus, it makes sense to have separate articles for these related but divergent topics. Will be open to hearing what other Wikipedians think. Andykatib 08:18, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- The separate causes of the various BLM-related protests are far more distinct and notable than here. --Pokelova (talk) 08:30, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- The "Mother of All Protests" have received significant coverage from the New Zealand media particularly the Stuff newspapers, Otago Daily Times, and The New Zealand Herald. I think that justifies giving it an article of its own. Andykatib 22:15, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not disputing that both protests may individually meet basic notability requirements, I'm just saying I don't think it necessitates two separate articles when they are so similar and connected. Heck, had these protests not been given titles I feel like separate articles may not have even been created in the first place. --Pokelova (talk) 23:03, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
