Description

[edit]

Morrigan's weight is given as 130 lbs, despite her actually being very chubby(but hour glass shaped) in a lot of artwork, and having enormous wings.

Also, does her hair grow like that or is it dyed? What's the deal with her being "Born" in Scotland?

What is the point of these questions..? MegamanZero 19:56, November 14, 2005
First, it doesn't count as vandalism in a talk page unless you do something like remove someone else's comments. Second, the point of an encyclopedia is to find out information, and so the anonymous poster must've asked simply because they wanted to know the answer. Anyway, onto the questions.
  • I haven't actually seen any official art of Morrigan that looked chubby, unless it was vertically "squashed" (I don't know a better way to put it); "unofficial" artists are free to draw her however they please. As I see it, she just has really big hips.
  • Anime characters can have all kinds of hair colors. I think I've seen all seven colors of the rainbow in various anime and video games and so forth. Shades of brown, red, or blonde are only a guideline.
  • As for the last question ... well, I don't know exactly how individual succubi come into existence, so I don't know a better word than "born". --Yar Kramer 23:06, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think he's talking about chibi or super deformed art, that's where you get figures with big heads and "fat" bodies that are about the same size as the head. Try looking up the game Super Puzzle Fighter, that has a bunch of chibi Capcom characters in it, including Morrigan. -- VederJuda 00:18, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I see what you're saying. Thank you for answereing this fellow's questions but , this is a wikipedia talk page, used for diccussion upon expansion of the article and not for silly, random questions. If those questions don't help the article, then don't post them here; which in this case (Also note the unsigned name) caused me to believe it was vandalisim.

Morrigan is not chubby at all, she just has really big boobs.

Pronounciation

[edit]

I'm wondering exactly how you pronounce "Aensland." —Yar Kramer 09:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's "Ayns-land". I could be wrong though.

JAPANESE NAME

[edit]

IF SOMEBODY KNOW MORRIGAN JAPAN NAME ADD IT 2 WIKIPEDIA LIKE IN THIS EXAMPLE

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ryu_(Street_Fighter)

SURE THIS IS ENGLISH WIKIPEDIA AND WE WONT GO GIVING JAPANESE NAME FOR MICKEY MOUSE ECT BUT SINCE THESE ORIGINATE FROM JAPAN IT SHOULD BE ADDED —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.195.96.232 (talk) 22:43, 22 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Forgive me for being blunt, but: whowever tagged this article for "notability" is being silly. This character is well known, even to those who have never played the games (such as me) due to the proliferation of fanart and cosplaers. That's what led me to this article in the first place - to find out more about the character, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.59.92.88 (talk) 18:44, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

this article should not be tagged, out of all the darkstalkers characters Morrigan is the most well known, even appearing in other capcom games and in possibly every capcom cross-over fighting game (thats not specific to certain groups such as Street Fighter) with other companies such as the Marvel vs Capcom and even Capcom vs SNK where she is a hidden character. in every animated and written version she is amongst the central stage characters in every adaptation. If she isn't notable then how did she get the vote to be one of two special characters to appear in the western release of "We love Golf"? the other being Ken Masters from Street Fighter

Adopted Daughter of Belial

[edit]

While I can not confirm if this is canon for Capcom's game universe, it is in the least canon to the Udon comic book series. It was revealed in a story of Morrigan's origin seen in the Capcom summer special of 2007, and in the trade paperback book. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.133.116.79 (talk) 07:47, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ansland or Aenslaed?

[edit]

Her name, in the manuals originally released in the 90s, spelt her name Aenslaed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.87.186.6 (talk) 02:53, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Morrigan is not from Scottland!!! As a serious Vampire fan, I ask that this be changed.

[edit]

I know she has the accent in Marvel VS Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3, but those games are not canon, at all. I see pictures posted from the Darkstalkers Graphic File and if you read the Graphic File, no where does it state that Morrigan is born in Scotland.

In fact, as an infant, she was found in Makai by Belial, Belial is present, only in Makai because his body is, in fact, Makai. He cannot leave that dimension, thus he could only find Morrigan and split her power in Makai. Morrigan was originally Scottish, only in the USA and EU versions of the 1st game of the series, but that game was later retconed and replaced with the upgrade Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge/Vampire Hunter: Darkstalkers' Revenge. In this game, many of the stages remain but the nationalities are dropped since the game makes its way of branching away from the Street Fighter style story and character depth. This was intentionally done to set itself apart from Street Fighter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.78.0.157 (talk) 04:24, 24 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done due to the lack of a reliable source for the fact. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 09:31, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see in the old manuals later. --Niemti (talk) 12:38, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bisexuality source enough?

[edit]

Hi folks. Sorry I'm looking like a new editor, I couldn't find my account from like, 2004-5 when I would edit on Star Wars and dinosaur pages if we even used those back then. Maybe I guest edited. I was looking up DS after getting into the UFS/UniVersal game this week and saw the notation on Morrigan being bisexual. I was curious on the source since it was notated since most people I see mistake being a succubus for being bisexual though they aren't the same. The page linked to has this as the only mention: "Also released in 1994 was Capcom’s Darkstalkers, which featured a succubus named Morrigan Aensland (and another named Lilith in Darkstalkers 3, released for console in 1998), who for all intents and purposes appears to be bisexual.". Is an anecdotal note using the word "appears" on an opinion piece without its own citation enough normally for wiki? Sorry, I don't want to step on someone's toes, but if she is bi is there a better source to be citing? I don't mean, like, "generally viewed as such by the community" but is there a source that would better suit the purposes to include the statement and all the tags at the bottom like in-game text that's not just flirtation or something? Creator interview? Thanks for your patience! Can't wait for the Collection! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quickstrike85 (talkcontribs) 20:56, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I did find this on the DS wiki, though obviously nothing there is really cited either and thus just as anecdotal "Morrigan is implicitly bisexual or pansexual. However, aside from some flirting quotes she never explicitly shows any real attraction to women as much as men, and most medias, crossover and galleries features her seducing just men." https://darkstalkers.fandom.com/wiki/Morrigan_Aensland Quickstrike85 (talk) 21:14, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I’d seen that as well. Just can’t find anything other than “some editor wrote it” haha Quickstrike85 (talk) 13:59, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, now that I look at it, it was removed last year and then is somehow back in a slightly modified form. Is that related to the sweeping edits based on the villain/antihero user or something different? Quickstrike85 (talk) 14:17, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Useful content removed

[edit]

See here, per my comments in AfD I believe this should be restored. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:50, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm willing to have this stay up for the time being to allow for easier access to sources for participants in the AfD. While I've made my stance known there, I do feel that if this is kept it should still be trimmed considerably, given how massive the size of this article is and the amount of weak sourcing inside, keep or not. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 02:19, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Piotrus: Speaking frankly, there's a lot of that just shouldn't be used and would probably be cleaned out. How many refs do we need saying "this character is sexy" with no actual reaction? Or acknowledging she's popular for cosplay? A lot of them just don't even say anything. There are probably some standout refs but it's going to be very light I feel even if you tried to stretch it, you'd have a very weak article in the end. Might I suggest a better route be to go through and cite what sources you feel have the most meat on them?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 03:16, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kung Fu Man There may be some ref bombing and excessive detail, but right now we have swing the pendulum too far - the current reception says nothing about her being "sexy". Now, I dislike sources such as liticles or passing mentions for estabilishing notabity (SIGCOV) but most of the removed content seems DUE to me. We can discuss whether some sources are unreliable, but much of what was removed seems relevant and reliable (if not SIGCOVy). If the article is kept at AFD, there is no good reason to keep that content blanked (although again, I expect there are a few bad sources there, I did not review them in detail, just spotchecked a few that seemed good, like the one I mentioned in AfD, from an old gaming magazine).
