Monthly nurse

[edit]

I have undertaken some editing under second paragraph history and an academic reference supplied for episcopal licensing. The sentence about withdrawal of midwifery licensing may not be entirely accurate. Also the sentence about the surgeon's responsibility being vested seemed incomplete. I have put some context to the proceedings referencing Marian Humfrey. I need to adjust this as the Nursing Record subsequently became the British Journal of Nursing.

I would like to paint a more balanced picture of the monthly nurse as she emerges with rather negative connotations which may be justified in many instances but not all.

It is an interesting point when she emerged as an entity and when the role became obsolete although continued under another name. I have a reference I need to double check about training still be offered in 1935.

I have archival reference to one nurse who although well qualified in nursing and midwifery additionally qualified in monthly nursing for better financial prospects. I would like to emphasise she did what she had to do to support wider family. Any discussion welcome!!! Sue8183 (talk) 11:18, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
