Boat design and description

[edit]

The Monterey Clipper is a classic small wooden boat. Derived from an scilian-italian design, the trim handsome vessel are classically made of oak frames, cedar planks and teak interior. It is powered by sail or a one-cylinder gasoline engine.[1]

Around 1905, the earliest boats built were done by the Italians from memory. Years ago, the boats were built in San Francisco at small shipyards like the Beviaqua yard, the Genoa boat works and others. The engines were also built in San Francisco machine shops and were sold and serviced on the wharf.
