Should we add the " http://www.un.org/sc/committees/1267/NSQI13603E.shtml " to external links? It would support the mention of the assassination of 13 customs officers. Twillisjr (talk) 06:00, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Either that, or use it to build out the article, using it as refs where appropriate. Good find.--Epeefleche (talk) 06:43, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bal'ur

[edit]

Is Mokhtar Belmokhtar also Bal'ur (previous Emir of the Ninth Region)? : http://studies.aljazeera.net/ResourceGallery/media/Documents/2012/4/30/2012430145241774734Al%20Qaeda%20and%20its%20allies%20in%20the%20Sahel%20and%20the%20Sahara.pdf Twillisjr (talk) 07:07, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Follow up: Same person, both started "Masked Battalions." Twillisjr (talk) 07:12, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV

[edit]

WP:WTA is explicit on WP neutralirty and in stark contrast to the WP:rECENTISM that ravages articles based on current news. There are solely MEDIA REPORTS and no independent outside confirmation of his death. The only source is the view of the chadian government, hardly known for its authority and neutrality on such subjects. It has a clear vested interest in legitimising its presnece in Mali by showing a "terrorist" presence. The word itself blinkered by its status as legitamate in the eyes of the western world. Neither does individual pinion affirm a death. WP is first neutral an dnot a media outletLihaas (talk) 19:28, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article should (and I believe does) indicate the source of information. The announcement of his death is clearly notable, and worthy of the article reflecting it, as long as it is done in the proper manner. WP is built on media reports -- if we deleted all content that relied on media reports, we would delete most of the Project.--Epeefleche (talk) 19:33, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Lihaas -- I see you have deleted a host of RS-cited material. Please take this as a warning not to do that again.--Epeefleche (talk) 19:39, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Is" to "Was"

[edit]

It was my honor to change his status on this Wikipedia page from "is" to "was." (Unless, of course, the death reports are false, like last time.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.54.177.96 (talk) 23:34, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there a death date being added?

[edit]

Belmokhtar is not presumed dead until proven alive, he is alive (previous status before June 14th) until proven dead. It's irresponsible to prematurely assume he was killed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheOnly1 (talkcontribs) 15:32, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
