First Prime Minister?
[edit]Was Da Costa Gomez really the first Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles? The article says he was from 1951 until 1954, but the Netherlands Antilles only came into being late 1954. The Dutch Wikipedia also says that nl:Efraïn Jonckheer was the first Prime Minister. Thayts ••• 08:52, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
- I have been working on the article on nl:Moises Frumencio da Costa Gomez on Dutch language Wikipedia and have been asking myself the same question. As far as I can make out: he was officially President of the Governing Council (voorzitter regeringsraad). Newspaper articles published while he was in office only rarely call him 'premier'. Jonckheer was the first 'real' prime minister. It all has to do with the process leading up to the Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The best source I can find is this [1]. Articles published later, especially when Da Costa Gomez died, do refer to him as the first prime minister. Nl maclean (talk) 20:22, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
