Technically, Axiotron bi-capitalizes it...ModBook, not Modbook. --Jason C.K. 00:57, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

introduced Vs Released.

[edit]

Does anyone know if this is available for the general public? If it isn't, it hasn't been released, just introduced.

And thank you, The Talking Mac, for being insulting. Madd the sane 01:36, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at Axiotron's man web page, it says that the ModBook will ship April 2007, meaning it is indeed a future product Madd the sane 01:36, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well... looks like it's soon a year since we first expected it... and the unclear information policy makes some parallels to well know vaporware.

It seems a bit like an advert

[edit]

Just throwing this out there, but this seems to be written like an advert. I don't really think it needed to have the Faster, Fastest, etc and the ™ symbols. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CreepyMan (talkcontribs) 00:23, 25 June 2007

I agree. I'll see if I can clean that up. 128.158.145.51 14:57, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Free use pic

[edit]

It seems this photo is released under CC Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 which means we can use it? Confirm this. --RaviC 17:29, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, this one may be better. --RaviC 17:32, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The CC-NC-SA licenses are incompatible with the GFDL, so they can still only be used under the fair use guidelines. That said, they don't seem likely to stand. You might contact the author and just ask if they'd be willing to release 'em into the public domain or dual-license them under the GFDL. Probably wouldn't be a big deal, MrZaiustalk 00:05, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

apple authorized

[edit]

Does it matter if it is authorized by Apple? Should we add this info in the article? At least one [1] news source says it is Apple authorized. Kushalt 02:41, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Now shipping

[edit]

There is an order button on the site now [2], so perhaps the "Vaporware" stuff could be dropped? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.90.183.91 (talk) 09:03, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've been bold and removed it. I think that as it's shipping and as they had a large presence at MacWorld it's unfair to say it's 'vaporware' - it's either been release or about to be. At the very least it's actively being developed on and promoted. EAi (talk) 03:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

iPhone development??

[edit]

Will the modbook run Iphone development kit? The SDK typically needs 10.5.3 OS and an intel based chip. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.112.207.80 (talk) 06:23, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure... It's supossed to be, hardware wise, the same —Preceding unsigned comment added by 187.140.53.111 (talk) 03:00, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I added a link in the 'See Also' section to the iPad page. Does anyone agree that a link to this page should be placed on the iPad page, as it seems more useful given the disparity in knowledge of the two devices? Cjeam (talk) 01:10, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Axiotron Gone, Now ModBook

[edit]

Seems the Axiotron site, itself, is not in English now, but Thai, and seems to only have pages about a Panasonic ToughBook. The original product that this article is talking about seems to be completely gone. However, there is a new company doing something similar under the name ModBook at ModBook.com (since 2012) - according to ModBook.com's Company/About page. 158.222.177.116 (talk) 18:15, 21 May 2015 (UTC) Gary Allen Vollink[reply]

Looking even deeper into it, Andreas Haas, former CEO of Axiotron Corp (based in Ontario) is on the ModBook Inc team (based in California). So, different company, same person. 158.222.177.116 (talk) 18:33, 21 May 2015 (UTC) Gary Allen Vollink[reply]
