Derivation wrong
[edit]The derivation from Michael is not accurate. The name patently comes from the Old English word "micel" (cognate with Latin "magnus," Greek "megas," Sanskrit "maha," etc.), which was pronounced with a palatised "c" ("ch"), i.e. exactly like "Mitchell" is pronounced. I'm going to amend the article on that basis. I have no idea what the Greek thing is about. Jackmitchell 16:46, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Don't forget the 13th Mitchell in Eastenders, Honey Mitchell. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.60.98.133 (talk • contribs).
- There were lots of EastEnders characters missing, actually. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:03, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- There is a separate surname page for people (real and fictional) with the name. Nietzsche 2 (talk) 01:31, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
First name
[edit]There is also a Mitchell in performing arts. It is his first name, instead of last, this is irregulaar as mitchell is indeed a typical surname. He is also referred to as Mitch. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.219.189.254 (talk) 12:43, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
