Maronite
[edit]An interesting fact is that he is a Maronite-rite priest, I have no link to cite it with but he mentions it every once in a while on his T.V. and radio programs, so you'll have to take my wordZaynaq (talk) 00:04, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I have heard the same thing. So, I second the motion.63.3.2.129 (talk) 03:18, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
He is a Latin Rite priest. He has bi-ritual faculties in the Maronite Church.
All Jesuit priests (of which Father Pacwa is one) are of the Latin Rite unless, at ordination, they are specifically ordained to the service of an Eastern Catholic Church (those who are members of the Society's so-called 'Eastern' or 'Oriental' Province). In that case, subsequent to ordination, they are granted bi-ritual faculties in the Latin Church.
Those Jesuits trained at the Russicum to serve in the Eastern Catholic Churches of the Slav nations were examples of such. Another example would be the emeritus Father General of the Society, Peter Hans Kolvenbach, SJ. Father Peter was ordained to the service of the Armenian Catholic Church; he was accorded bi-ritual faculties in the Latin Church.
In the instance of one such as Father Pacwa, who was ordained to the service of the Latin Church, the subsequent grant to him of bi-ritual faculties in the Maronite Church does not make him a Maronite priest. It makes him a Latin priest with Maronite faculties. Irish Melkite (talk) 10:19, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
