Science fiction?

[edit]

I just want to know what other editors think on this.

Is it really right to classify this under science fiction genre since it's said to be a true story and not fiction?

The term sci-fi itself means fiction.

Even First Man is not classified as a science fiction, at least on IMDb and major sources.

I know there are a few articles mentioned as references in the lead of this page, but since they usually draw their data from Wikipedia itself, isn't it possible they have indeed taken it from here only?

Please tell me what you think. Keep the First Man case in mind, too. (77Survivor (talk) 13:13, 7 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

The Mumbai mirror [1] and the Livemint [2] sources say "Sci-Fi Drama". That's enough for me to mention these genre in the lead. Cyphoidbomb, Krimuk2.0, can you guys throw some light on this? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:37, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I see those two sources say that, but it's most definitely not "fiction", as it's based on real-life events. Quite like, Hidden Figures, it's a biographical drama, which IMO is the most apt description. Krimuk2.0 (talk) 18:41, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Fylindfotberserk: @Krimuk2.0: Actually, more of a historical drama. Biopics are about people. This film is about events. The film's USP as promoted till now is its being based on the Mars Orbiter Mission. I know I'm no one to judge, but people will be going to watch it for the events, not for the people.

I know it's not set in an old period, but it does dramatize what has already become history. I think it should be listed either as a drama or a historical drama. Let's see what others have to say. (77Survivor (talk) 18:46, 9 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

@Krimuk2.0: If the above Mumbai Mirror and Live Mint sources need to be disregarded then it will be better to write it as "drama" only as cited here. -Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:09, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Fylindfotberserk: That's much better than calling it a science fiction. Go ahead, I'm okay with just drama. (77Survivor (talk) 10:26, 10 August 2019 (UTC))[reply]

@77Survivor: Lets wait for others. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:28, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
