Protection of Article

[edit]

The article needs to be protected as someone is trying to edit it and promote their own pageant in Equador. There has been repetitive attempts for the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aayat1998 (talkcontribs) 09:38, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs to be protected. Equador based people are repetitively trying to edit this article for their promotion.Richardmat (talk) 20:37, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done. An adminstrator has semi-protected the page from unregistered and very recently registered new users. Additionally, I have done some more research and sorted out the different United States, Costa Rican, and Indian ownership versions. Any future edits should proceed from there. 5Q5| 16:02, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Administrator, the Indian version is not related to the US version, Costa Rica version and Ecuador version. Please add the Ecuador version in the History and Lists of Titleholders.Komodograss (talk) 13:40, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[1]Komodograss (talk) 13:40, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done:. I am not an administrator, but I have revised the article to indicate an Ecuador pageant. Do you have any independent news media sources for title winners, something that proves a pageant was actually held in Ecuador? When providing a link here on the talk page do not use <ref>. Put the link inside single brackets like this: [https://...com Link title]. Leave a space between the website address and the link title. 5Q5| 15:27, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The user:komodograss is the account used by the Equador person whose several accounts were disabled for making promotional contents and violating Wikipedia guidelines again and again. Even this new account is 11 days old. The other accounts have been deleted by the administrators already.

The misuse of the title of Miss Teen International in Equador was publicly mentioned and this Miss Teen International page was tried to be completely written in their name in August 2020.

There were huge trials to make the Wikipedia page theirs and attack Miss Teen International brand.

Please do not entertain people trying to copy the names. Not only this, the Equador based organization has also taken over Miss Teen World Wikipedia page.

And many others. There are several organizations who are waiting to move to the court against Rodrigo after the pandemic. Aayat1998 (talk)

The Miss Teen International in India is a scam, the winner of from Mexico Odalys Duarte never received her prizes. Enrique Gonzalez never sold his contest to India. Komodograss (talk) 11:33, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dear administrator, what user Aayat1998 did in the entire page in Miss Teen International is unethical. He deleted the information about Miss Teen International Ecuador version. There are websites and articles that prove that the contest really existed and took place. Komodograss (talk) 11:51, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The user Ayaat1998 needs to be sanctioned, he is all the time deleting edits, provoking acts of vandalism. yashaboat I can clearly see who is creating new accounts from which country to add the Equador version. You people had tried a lot number of times in the past to vandalise different Wikipedia pages and your id's were blocked by the administrators. Even this ID of your have been created few hours ago and immediately before you posted on the talk page.
I will ask the administrators to lock this page for further vandalism and also have a check on all the Wikipedia pages which have been converted in the ownership of Rodrigo Moreira.
I contribute to many pageant articles and I will definitely check all the vandalism activities now. Aayat1998 (talk) 18:28, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Are you in direct relation with the Indian contest? Wikipedia does not belong to Glamanand owner of the Indian contest. I am who can see that you are trying to write about of Miss Teen International and Miss Multinational, owned by the same people and held in India. That means that you work for them, I also was create my account to contribute to many pageant articles, I'm on Wikipedia a free encyclopedia with more than 15 million articles written by volunteers in more than 200 languages or you're going to ban it just because you are on the side of a contest, not respecting the editions of the rest. This is not about any dispute that you or your boss has with a person from Ecuador or anywhere in the world, It is clear that they do not want to refer to the contest held in Ecuador and boycott the editions that are made of said contest because they are their competition. If you have nothing to fear, stop instilling fear and let an administrator enter the correct information for each Miss Teen International version held in many countries. Thanks. Yahsabaot (talk) Yahsabaot (talk) 19:16, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

yahsabaot To be precise about the information, let me tell you that your account was created hours ago and I am aware who you are. I am also aware of several accounts of yours which have been banned permanently. Talking about Miss Multinational article to which I contributed, the page wasn't made by me and I had contributed to the page.
Since the year the competition has started in India, people are trying to take advantage of the brand name. The competition in Equador was named as Miss teenager. After the growing popularity of Miss Teen International held in India, Rodrigo tried to steal all the brand names and award many titles in his pageant where merely 12 countries took part. Such way, many companies try to illegally steal the name all over the world. It doesn't mean all the Wikipedia pages shall be destroyed.
Miss Teen World and Miss Teen Supranational pages need to be reviewed first.
Also, for your information even for Miss Teen Mundial, there are several articles referring it as Miss Teen World.
And, I request the administrators to kindly check all the pages related to Rodrigo Moreira who has tried to steal many brand names and keep renaming the titles to the already established ones.
We shall discuss the information about USA based pageant after I receive detailed information from both the organizations based in India and USA.
We can discuss about it. Aayat1998 (talk)

Disregard
 – I have learned that the Ecuador pageant trademark is in a "pending" status, though the application is active, which still gives legal protections. The reversions of my edits were still unwarranted though. See my Update below. 5Q5| 16:35, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Question: to User:Aayat1998: You have reverted my edits beginning here, here, here, and here. One of those was merely an "additional citations needed" section template. I consider the most accurate version of the article by me here. I cited government sources that indicate that there are three active trademarks for pageants using the name "Miss Teen International" in the United States, India, and Ecuador, all of whom have the legal right to operate their pageants in their respective countries. Without attacking other editors, please explain to the Wikipedia community why you do not want the Ecuador pageant included, despite the Ecuador government's recognition of it as intellectual property of its owner, and instead want the article to mainly promote the India pageant. Thank you for your response and to all editors, please put your signature (~~~~) on a separate line. 5Q5| 15:56, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

information Update: According to the Global Brand Database of the World Intellectual Property Organization, the trademark in Ecuador, filed on Feb 21, 2019, is in a "pending/under review" status. It has not yet been officially approved and registered. Therefore, my position has changed and I don't believe the Ecuador pageant should be included in the article until such time that it does get formally approved and leaves pending trademark status. Ecuador and Costa Rica are not members of the Madrid System of international trademark registration. The trademark application in the U.S. was filed on January 24, 2002 and renewed in 2012. The India trademark was filed on July 25, 2016. Because the U.S. pageant owner was first to register, the owner of the India trademark would not and will not be able to file a successful international trademark application that shuts down the U.S. trademark or the pending Ecuador trademark. To summarize: In my opinion at this time, the Ecuador pageant is not notable enough yet to be mentioned in the article (it might cease operation if its trademark is not approved) and the current infobox has no right under rules of WP:NPOV and WP:PROMOTION to display excessive India pageant information as though it is the only Miss Teen International pageant that matters. If the Ecuador trademark is ever approved someday, someone please leave a note on my talk page. I will revise the infox in the days ahead. In the business world, if you have legally operating competitors, you have the options of buying them out, merging, or co-existing. 5Q5| 16:35, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Editor, the Global Database mentioned is outdated, precisely because Ecuador are not member of the Madrid System of international trademark registration. Ecuador have their own intellectual property laws. According to read on the official website of the Miss Teen International pageant based in Ecuador Miss Teen International Trademark, its trademark was approved on May 21, 2019, under the provisions of Resolution SENADI_2019_ RS_8989 decided resolve grant the registration of MISS TEEN INTERNATIONAL, as a whole in favor of Rodrigo Moreira, protecting the services of International Class No. 41, specified in The Gazette of Intellectual Rights, published by the National Service for Intellectual Rights of the Republic of Ecuador. here. At the same, we must know that the National Service for Intellectual Rights (SENADI) is a competent national authority, which exercises the powers of regulation, management and control of intellectual rights in Ecuador. Read more . In other words, the Miss Teen International pageant based in Ecuador operates under the legal figure of a trademark registration granted, therefore, should not exist no restrictions, reversions of edits, much less "to exclude" the Ecuadorian version in Wikipedia because are being affect the intellectual property rights of its owner, legally obtained, in accordance with Ecuador and the Andean Community's Intellectual Property laws. Finally, I have to say that Intellectual Property grants the author, creator and inventor the right to be recognized as the owner of their creation or invention and, therefore, to be the beneficiary of it. Official Site of the Ecuador's Intellectual Rights in spanish
Please, I request you to confirm the information of the trademark registration and add the Ecuador version and its titleholders.

Working. To Komodograss, I am working on restoring the Ecuador pageant to the article, which has already been included and removed twice due to apparent biased editing. This will take some time. There is currently a major tropical cyclone hitting India, which is possibly why that editor has been quiet in the last few days. Do you agree that this 20 May 2021 revised version of the article is accurate? I intend to add more supporting Ecuador references to it that you provided above and improve the infobox. 5Q5| 12:06, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At 5Q5| I fully support the inclusion of the Ecuadorian version in the article with reliable sources. Go ahead and add the Ecuadorian version.---Richie Campbell (talk) 13:28, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello 5Q5| please add independent news media sources found for title winner Maria Alejandra Royo Miss Teen International 2020:

María Alejandra Royo fue elegida Miss Teen International 2020 - Diario El Siglo

Panameña es la nueva Miss Teen Internacional 2020 - Diario La Prensa

Miss Teen International 2020: Maria Alejandra Royo of Panama - History of Pageants - historyofpageants.com

María Alejandra Royo was elected Miss Teen International 2020 - Entorno Inteligente - entornointeligente.com

Thank you. Yahsabaot (talk) 18:15, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I will look into these new references. Spanish language sites involve my use of translate.google.com, since this is the English-language Wikipedia. Generally there has to be a good reason to add multiple references, a controversial topic being one of them, which this article seems to be. 5Q5| 12:02, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Only two of these sources are useable. Can't use these: The historyofpageants.com site is still under construction and has the wrong year, saying she won the 2020 title on December 9, 2021, obviously a typo. The site entornointeligente.com has a technical problem with dating articles, all of which say "1 min ago" no matter when you visit the site. The reference template requires a date to work. 5Q5| 15:09, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Each of the Ecuador titleholders now have three references. That is enough. However, a source is still needed that mentions her hometown or where she considers her home base, if ever it becomes available. I also added a footnote regarding the Covid 19 pandemic. 5Q5| 15:28, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
5Q5| These observations are, in my opinion, correct. In her biography published on the Ecuador pageant Official Site we read that Maria Alejandra Royo was born and lives in Panama City Miss Teen International 2020: Maria Alejandra Royo from Panama.

The article needs a correction in the city of origin of the first winner of the contest held in India. Based on the information, we have on December 22, 2018, she was born in Tulancingo, city, located in the southeastern of the state of Hidalgo. [1].

I think that could us change the origin of the title winner, for the city and country where the contest was held, as we can see in the box made for titleholders from 1993 to 2014 or should the situation require, maintain under this format and only add venue of the pageant.

Also Peru and Panama must be added to the list of Countries by winning number.

There is undoubtedly an article more neutral and complete thanks to all the contributions. Yahsabaot (talk) 20:06, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much to Editor 5Q5 and Wikipedia for adding back the information on Miss Teen International Ecuador version. Komodograss (talk) 01:33, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello everyone, there are many other links that I have come across in different countries copying the name of famous pageants. Will it be allowed to add them to all the famous pageants and destroy them. I would suggest to add them if there are registered marks. Aayat1998 (talk) 02:40, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:5Q5 There is the misuse of the pageant name in several other countries. I agreed to your edit when you added the USA version. Please note that the pageant in Equador were named as Miss Teenager and hence I have been against the inclusion of the equador version. After the pageant got famous, they changed their name to Miss Teen International. However, I wrote an email to the organizers in India, they have confirmed on opposing the trademark applied to prevent the registered mark in Equador.

In Thailand, china etc Miss Teen International brand have been used. I propose restoring the article to the previous version. Even Miss International brand is misused in many countries, it does not mean we shall ruin the article of Miss Teen International on Wikipedia. Aayat1998 (talk) 02:49, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Editor, To verify the National Service of Intellectual Property created a section CONSULT PROCEDURE in Spanish CONSULTA DE TRAMITES.

[2]

The number of the procedure assigned to the Miss Teen International trademark is:

SENADI-2019-1517

According to the search carried out in the National Service of Intellectual Rights SENADI, the procedure was end and the title was granted. Therefore, after searching for such information, I verify that the title of the trademark was granted and the information proportioned by Ayaat1998 and Richarmat users are fake, that means that they want to destroy your work because they are from India and belong to the Indian organization that clearly had been taken the Wikipedia page, check their edits, it could be Nikhil Anand, owner of the India contest, trying to destroy the article again, which took you several days restoring.

Komodograss (talk) 06:18, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

komodograss The website link provides by you is not working. Also, looking at the history of the articles and the pattern, it seems you're Rodrigo Moreira. Your several accounts have been banned already and I shall post them here in my next comment.

The competition held in Equador has no significant coverage, videos, photos etc. Just a single girl crowned. Do pageants occur like that?

Can someone crown a girl with a Miss Universe Sash, get some links and share the Wikipedia page of Miss Universe?

I have done my research work and I have contributed to this article for several times. Aayat1998 (talk) 09:26, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regional Edition

[edit]
There is a conflict of interest with respect to the Miss Teen International page on Wikipedia, so a consensus must be reached in the edition.

According to Intellectual Property laws at the international level, the ownership of a trademark is territorial [2], there are two contests with the same name, in different continents, in different languages, therefore based in different regions, both with acquired legitimate legal rights by the Intellectual Property Authorities in their respective countries of origin. In other words, a trademark registered in a certain country does not enjoy exclusivity over another, each counntry have theirs own laws. The organization of the international competition based in Ecuador enjoys publicly reknown, after obtaining the trademark registration in the Andean Community of Nations, which has been covered by important media in the Latin American region. See trademark registration: [3].

The prestigious newspaper "La Republica" of Peru, echoed the coronation of Miss Teen International 2019 whose winner is of Peruvian origin. The headline reads: Peruvian Luciana Begazo brings the Miss Teen International crown. We verify this information in Spanish on the official site: [4]

We must reach a consensus to edit the Miss Teen International page on Wikipedia deciphering it by region, respecting intellectual property rights legally acquired by each International Organization.

Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia, which must continue to offer verified, serious and impartial information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeniferliberman (talkcontribs) 16:00, 20 August 2020 (UTC) [reply]
Wikipedia is not an advertisement for one company's ownership of a pageant, per WP:PROMO. The term "Miss Teen International" has a long history with different pageants in different countries. I see another editor tried to note its history at one time but most of the material was apparently improperly removed so that the article could promote another version of the pageant. Currently someone in the United States owns active U.S. Trademarks for Miss Teen International, Miss Teen International Pageant, and Miss Teen International Competition. To solve the problem of different pageants, the article should be divided into major sections "United States" and "India" or new articles created Miss Teen International (United States) and Miss Teen International (India). Check out these links as examples: Make Me a Supermodel, Celebrity Big Brother, Bingo (American version), Bingo (British version). I'm only temporarily editing beauty pageants, so you regular editors should handle this. 5Q5| 16:51, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Enrique did not ceded the rights, there is indeed a contest called Miss Teen International in India but this has no relation to the old Miss International in the 1960s or to the contest that started in Costa Rica in 1993. "Mr. Enrique González is alive. I have written to him concerning Indian contest and he said that he never sold or transferred his rights to Nikhil Anand, this would be a scam case, in fact very serious. Gonzalez was in poor health due to his old age, an act that was taken advantage of by the person he claims to be the new owner." We will all feel better and will be better informed with the truth after knowing the version of Mr. González. I appreciate the disambiguation of the template. I would like to help edit and provide content about Miss Teen International in the 1960s and United States based pageant. Pageantopolis (talk) 05:34, 3 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've revised the article to add the U.S. history version of the pageant, but I am not able to comment on the other versions. The U.S. should be listed first because it began in the United States in 1966. The article needs more work. Unfortunately, I have no connection to the beauty pageant industry, so there is not much more I can do except get things started. I've formatted the history section similar to how I did it at the Miss Teen USA pageant article back in February 2021. 5Q5| 16:27, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You did a good job. The information added is correct due the contest started originally in the United States in 1966. It would be a good idea to add the list of pageant winners and information from the international contest held in Ecuador. Remove from history this: "In 2016, Enrique González sold the Miss Teen International franchise to Indian businessman Nikhil Anand." This information is false. There is no official publication on media of the acquisition of the contest in Costa Rica, where the contest was held from 1993 to 2014. Simply Nikhil Anand made a trademark registration in India, as did Rodrigo Moreira, organizer of the international contest held in Ecuador. Pageantopolis (talk) 14:41, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Do what you think is best for the article. I'm not fluent in Spanish so my ability to research non-English sources to investigate claims of ownership is limited. There is a placeholder {{Expand-section}} template if you have to delete the entire India section instead of leaving it blank, or just wait until you revise it with corrected material. I notice on the article's left side bar there are links to versions in different languages. Maybe some of them have useful sources that can be cited, or not. Please remove my Missing Information About... template when you feel the goal of improving the article has been achieved. 5Q5| 13:24, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now. After posting my comment above, I learned User_talk:Pageantopolis was just blocked indefinitely by an administrator for citing a source in the article that is the Internet Archive version of a defunct website that has the same name in its domain, pageantopolis. So that's that. 5Q5| 14:37, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article revised to be neutral

[edit]

I have just published a major overhaul of the article to bring it into a state of neutrality. Previously, the infobox and content emphasized the India-based Miss Teen International pageant and diminished other versions.

Supporting Wikipedia Policies and Guidelines
  • WP:NEUTRAL: Articles must not take sides, but should explain the sides, fairly and without editorial bias.
  • WP:IMPARTIAL: The tone of Wikipedia articles should be impartial, neither endorsing nor rejecting a particular point of view.
  • WP:NOTADVERTISING: Wikipedia is not a soapbox, a battleground, or a vehicle for propaganda, advertising and showcasing. ... Wikipedia articles about a person, company or organization are not an extension of their website, press releases, or other social media marketing efforts.
  • WP:STRUCTURE: Pay attention to headers, footnotes, or other formatting elements that might unduly favor one point of view or one aspect of the subject, and watch out for structural or stylistic aspects that make it difficult for a reader to fairly and equally assess the credibility of all relevant and related viewpoints.
  • WP:OWNBEHAVIOR: An editor reverts justified article changes by different editors repeatedly over an extended period to protect a certain version, stable or not.

The revision as now published eliminates confusion and will allow the article content to be more easily managed and pageant sections extracted for splits into separate articles someday if needed with the main Miss Teen International becoming a disambiguation page. Until then, it is a five-pageants page. No existing references or titleholder names were removed or altered. Some new references were added for the Ecuador pageant. The color of the Ecuador Titleholders list header is Golden Yellow, the same found on its flag. Wikipedia articles are not the place to decide disputes over legal ownership of pageants, so I have separated the titleholders lists of Costa Rica and India into their respective sections. It is not easy to cram five separate pageants with the same title into one article, but I think it has been accomplished. 5Q5| 16:49, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

5Q5 I am closely related to the Indian Miss Teen International and other pageants in Asia. The history of the edits show the frequent edits in the article. I read your opinion on the above topics. The Equador trademark is not the Registered mark. TM is granted immediately and I think, the ecqador version can be added. For now, it would be better to let the article be with the information neutral by mentioning the registered marks. The reference links added to the equador pageant as not from any Big media. Also, as stated by the another user aayat1998, the equador version changed their name several times and no notable source shows the pageant held. The title can also be given just like that and certain articles can be published. I advise to make changes only after certain things are verified and should be concluded if they should be added or not.
  • The Equador pageant should be checked if a pageant in the name of Miss Teen International was held. Also, why was the name Miss Teenager named as Miss Teen International.
  • Should be checked if the title was just awarded to make money. Many fake titles are awarded across the world.
  • The trademark registration should be verified from the government website. Oppositions should be taken into consideration.
Richardmat (talk) 04:42, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to editor Richardmat. There is sufficient evidence cited in the Miss Teen International article that the Ecuador pageant applied for the Miss Teen International trademark in English and is using the trademark. According to this 3 May 2021 article, the Ecuadorian National Service of Intellectual Rights now allows public searches of trademarks (in Spanish). I am not fluent in Spanish but using online translation I was able to search for the mark and confirm that it was granted:

Resultado de la Búsqueda. Número de Trámite: SENADI-2019-1517. Denominación: MISS TEEN INTERNATIONAL. Fecha de Presentación: 2019-01-08. Estado: FIN TITULO EMITIDO. Ecuador is a country that is literally named after the equator (which runs through it) that separates the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere. Articles on the English-language Wikipedia have to be mindful of WP:WORLDVIEW and Wikipedia:Notability is not a level playing field so that countries like Ecuador with a smaller population and fewer media outlets are not intentionally or unintentionally discriminated against and excluded. I would support rewriting the article in the future to make the India pageant the only legitimate Miss Teen International pageant, but for that to be true it would first have to prove it has acquired the rights and history to the four other pageants. If that ever happens, please place a note on my talk page. I am working on a new topic to post here titled "Who owns the 1966 Hollywood pageant?" It may be of interest to read it, soon. 5Q5| 14:53, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User:5Q5 The website to check the trademark is not working for days. I have tried to check about the Miss Teen International trademark status. I would request you to check it once again. Aayat1998 (talk) 06:50, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

question mark Suggestion from 5Q5: The Ecuador government website for trademarks is https://www.derechosintelectuales.gob.ec/verificacion-de-tramites-signos-distintivos/. Follow these instructions to verify the trademark. I already posted the trademark information above.

  • 1. Go to the above website. Click on the top button: Consulta de trámites de Signos Distintivos (Consultation of Distinctive Signs procedures).
  • 2. Scroll down to Ingrese el Número de Trámite (Enter the Procedure Number).
  • 3. Enter: SENADI-2019-1517 and click on the Captcha checkbox.
  • 4. Finally, click on: Consultar (Consult). The Trademark information should appear.

The website worked for me from the United States just before I posted this. I used a laptop, not a phone. 5Q5| 15:30, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Titleholder lists

[edit]

I am proposing making these changes to the Costa Rica and India titleholder lists:

  • Costa Rica: Change the header "City" to "Venue" and add a footnote to indicate "No." means "Number of delegates." Yes, it has a click-on tooltip link but it is a tiny link that either cannot be seen or doesn't work on devices that have javascript disabled. The footnote will help readers to understand that the numbers are not ages.
  • India: Change the headers "City" to "Hometown" and "No." to "Age" which is what they are. Hometown and Age is also what is used on the List of Miss Teen USA titleholders so it is not unusual to have this information for winners.
  • India: For 2018 winner Odalys Duarte, correct the hometown to "Tulancingo" Mexico, supported by a new reference to replace the current nonworking one [permanent dead link]. The quote in the new source says "Originally from Tulancingo, Hidalgo, 17-year-old Duarte was crowned queen of Miss Teen International."

I am also working on the template code to update the Countries by winning number list. Not ready yet. If there is any comment, do so here; otherwise, tomorrow I will go ahead and make the above edits. 5Q5| 14:29, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed update to "Countries/Territories by winning number" list

[edit]

This is the revision I came up with to update the "by winning number" list.

Any issues? There are definitely U.S. titleholders, but there is not enough information going back to 2002 at the present time to be specific. "Indeterminate" means "not exactly known, established, or defined." I will wait a couple of days for any comment, then if it looks okay will post it. 5Q5| 13:18, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent 5Q5|. It looks organized, also I noticed that you added the countries of the first winners from 1966 to 1969. Well done. Yahsabaot (talk) 19:32, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Who owns the rights to the original Hollywood pageant?

[edit]

I added a sentence to the Hollwood section of the article with three mainstream news sources that indicate TV producer Al Burton (1928-2019) produced the pageant and it aired on the ABC Television network in the United States. Additionally, but not among the sources used, IMDb has two entries for the 1967 and 1968 pageants. It is difficult to know for certain if Burton created and owned the pageant and went to ABC, pitched the idea, and got a TV distribution deal, or if ABC contacted him with the idea of a new pageant and hired him to organize and produce it. As such, we can't yet say with certainty that Burton was the founder of the pageant, only that he produced it. Interestingly, however, his obituary in Variety says "Burton highlighted young women through his beauty pageants 'Miss Teen USA' and 'Miss Teen International,' which were hosted across the country." There must be some other past write-ups out there about Burton, such as 1960s issues of Variety or The Hollywood Reporter (UCLA Library back issues) that provide a clearer answer. If one of the current Miss Teen International pageants wanted to acquire the rights to the original Hollywood pageant, the first place to inquire would be Burton's heirs, mentioned in his various obituaries. It is possible ABC only owns the rights to the actual TV broadcasts and Burton, the underlying pageant name. Or, it could be a joint ownership of both. It is also possible that long ago before he left the business Burton sold all of his entertainment properties to someone else. If anyone learns for certain (with a citable source) that Burton created the pageant besides producing it, let us know. It would be helpful to the article to mention its founder. I'm going to change my position on something. Previously I wrote that in order to take over the focus of the article and infobox as the main Miss Teen International pageant, you would have to acquire the rights to the four other pageants. I now support the position that acquiring the rights to the founding Hollywood pageant would be enough to earn that honor. The three other competitions could be moved to a new section: "Other pageants using the same name" or something similar. If the rights to the founding Hollywood pageant are ever acquired by one of the three current pageants, please leave a note on my talk page and I will help rewrite the article and infobox, assuming I haven't retired from Wikipedia by then. 5Q5| 12:24, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation

[edit]

I need an admin to help us create a disambiguation page to list articles associated with the title and each version contest have your own article to avoid confusion because there are several versions of the contest, some only with Facebook citations, they do not even have their registered brand or website. I feel that some are unfairly taking advantage of the prestige of the pageant and the effort that legally registered pageants such as Miss Teen International have put in. I am not an administrator and am no longer interested in editing beauty pageant articles, but I did suggest above long ago that a disambiguation page was an option to consider. The last time I editied this article there were only three countries with pageants. Now there are six! Check out this disambiguation page as an example: Make Me a Supermodel. You would have to create newly titled articles for a disambiguation page:

This is a lot of work for whoever takes the project on (again, not me). If there is ever an RfD vote on this disambiguation topic, let me know. 5Q5| 17:04, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

And then there's the additional problem of correcting Miss Teen International 2022 and earlier years where one country is wrongfully claiming sole ownership of the name. 5Q5| 15:10, 19 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much 5Q5| for your valuable input and suggestions. Hopefully some administrator will help us with the disambiguation. Yahsabaot (talk) 07:15, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello dear 5Q5|. I hope you are very well. I have created the articles by country as you suggested and the disambiguation page. I would like you as Editor to verify if it is well done. Yahsabaot (talk) 07:06, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
thumbs up Great!. It all looks good to me, Yahsabaot. That was an enormous amount of work. I hope this resolves the conflicts. Everyone with a Miss Teen International pageant can do their own thing now. 5Q5| 12:58, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Editor User_talk:5Q5, the user Aayat1998 has once again created biased editions usurping the version of the history of Hollywood and Costa Rica, the latter belongs to Rodrigo Moreira, who is the owner of the intellectual property rights in Costa Rica, I know you are not interested in writing about beauty contests, but I appreciate you helping me as soon as you have time, because you also told us that if it was about this article we could count on you. Mainly because after having a long discussion and work editing each of the versions, the representative user of the Indian pageant has once again generated conflict in the article of Miss Teen International India version, misleading the readers about the true story, less now that Rodrigo Moreira obtained all intellectual property rights in Costa Rica with registration number 314942 granted by the National Registry of the Republic of Costa Rica.
