[edit]

This article reporduces or plagiarises, almost word for word, the author's self-published Xanth Character Database notes.

e.g. Justin Tree:

What the article says: A 100 year old man transformed into a tree by Trent in the Xanth universe. He's rejected offers to be transformed back into a man and seems to like being a tree. Later travels with Breanna of the Black Wave (he shared a body with her during the journey). He later gets transformed back into a man and marries Breanna.

What the author writes:

A man who was transformed by Evil Magician Trent into a tree, and who prefers being that way. His talent allows him to converse with untransformed folk. Later he associates closely with Breanna.

A credible encyclopedia must not silently present content copied from elsewhere as though it were original.--Gavin Collins (talk|contribs) 10:20, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, having read those books he was in, I remember they mentioning in the very first one he had been transformed into a tree by Trent, and had become more popular so liked it that way. In a later book Trent had offered to change him back, but he refused. There are only so many ways to write out that information. There is no copyright violation here. Do you have any other examples? Merge

[edit]

OK, how do you want to go about merging, given that the other article is in fact a list of internal links? And does anyone want to write a separate article on Jenny, who seems to be the character with genuine real world notability?Elen of the Roads (talk) 00:19, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I posted on the closing administrators talk page asking him that same question. [1] I asked if he had time to look at the other page, as well as all the other character list pages for Xanth. There is no possible way to merge all of this stuff into one article. That's why all the notable characters were sorted into various side articles, and those that didn't fit in any other group, were stuck together in the Other characters of Xanth article. • Update. There never was any response to my quarry. [2] And after all this time, no one found a way to make that happen, it not making any sense, so I went ahead and removed the long ignored merge tag. Anything that doesn't fit in the other list of characters and their summaries, goes here on this page. Dream Focus 09:07, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not Minor Chracters

[edit]

In the book "The Color of Her Panties" it is established that Jenny Elf and Sammy Cat are Major Characters and Okra Ogress sets on a quest to be rid of them to become a Major Character. By the end of the book, Jenny and Sammy remains, but only because Okra saves them and becomes a Major Character herself.

By story alone they should not be in this category.
