Removal of POV

[edit]

I replaced the following part: "On May 13, 2007, she left the social-democratic SP.a and joined List Dedecker, a right-wing splinter from the centrist VLD including defectors from the far-right Vlaams Belang and its cartel-partner VLOTT[2]." by "On May 13, 2007, she left the social-democratic SP.a and joined List Dedecker, a new liberal party.[2]" I have several reasons for doing so: (1)Dedecker was kicked out the VLD and formed as only elected VLD-member a new party. This is not a "splinter". Nor does the adjective "right-wing" adds much. It's better to use the word "liberal" as this is a much better and less ambiguous description than the "right-wing" adjective. (2)It depends on what party views you emphasize whether or not the VLD is centrist. In other words, we should not state our opinion. The left calls it a right-wing party, the centre calls it a centre-right party and the right calls it a centre-left party. If any adjective is used, "liberal" is more appropriate. (3)There is no need to emphasize the "defectors of the VB" joined List Dedecker. Defector is not a neutral term and the emphasis on VB'ers seem to be used to push some POV. People from various parties joined List Dedecker. In case of Verstrepen he always considered himself to be an independent on the list of VB; not to be a real ("racist") VB'er. (4)In general I think that the history and the details of List Dedecker should be left for that particular page. My replacement includes all the relevant information for this article and contains no POV. Sijo Ripa 01:09, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I totally disagree, the List Dedecker belongs to the same category as the List Pim Fortuyn and other right-wing populist parties in Benelux and Scandinavia. Dedecker left the VLD with other members like Boudewijn Bouckaert and other "dark blue" activists (i.e. right-wingers) that had not yet joined VLOTT. But as I am fed up of losing my time with wikipedian quarrels, I'll just "unwatch" this article. Do as you wish. --Pylambert 08:36, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
