Inadequacy of article

This is a very thin article and not very informative. In particular, the expression "government agency" does not really describe it. It was more a producers' cooperative set up by statute. See Dairy Crest website. Its dissolution was forced by the EU, which regarded it as being in restraint of trade, because of its monopoly position in the wholesale milk market. Possible Cultural reference

As a long-running gag, the Milk Marketing Board is portrayed in several of Robert Rankin's novels as a powerful entity secretly manipulating world events and commissioning clandestine operations and assassinations. Arms

I am not very familiar with the specialist words used to describe "Arms", but the picture is a green shield with wavy radial lines. Yet the text refers to crowns, silver, cows, lions, dragons etc. What are where are they? -- SGBailey (talk) 06:42, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I used to work for the MMB and I do not recognize the arms shown. However, I do recognize the heraldic description. I will see if I can find my MMB tie and take a photo of the arms. As to why it had a coat of arms, well, it was just customary for statutory bodies to have one. LynwoodF (talk) 11:17, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see that the heraldic description does not seem to be accurate. The word "argent" is used far too much. Also the heraldic beast on the sinister side (right of the picture) is actually a griffin or, not a heraldic dragon.

I am reminded of something that happened many years ago at a conference of the British Society for the History of Pharmacy, I think in Cardiff, but possibly Porthcawl. I found myself chatting to Doug Whittet, who I see has a brief article on WP. I was wearing the MMB tie and he looked very closely at it and asked, "Which school did you go to then?". I replied that the arms were those of my employer, the MMB. He examined it very carefully, then said, "I didn't know you sold griffin's milk." LynwoodF (talk) 16:28, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible that I knew your father, although there were a lot of people who worked for the MMB and they were spread over a large part of England and Wales. I was at Thames Ditton and became an employee of Dairy Crest, who pay me my pension now. LynwoodF (talk) 11:13, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
