It would be good to get info on the spans and areas of the different wings. Lukins & Russell claim their data fit the D wing, though measuring up their modellers' plan, which seems to be of the D wing suggests something nearer 41' 9". However, the length from the plan also comes out longer than they quote. The British a/c directory web site claims a span of 33', but their diagram, which again seems to be for the D wing scales up to about 38' 7": not 33', then but still not in agreement with L & R's 39' 5".

L & R are not entirely trustworthy, as their value for the span of the rear wing of the M39B is not compatible with their plan, whereas that of the front wing span is fine.

Presumably modern materials and construction methods have removed the weight penalties of the thinner wings, so we now work at the low end of the range explored by the M.6; nonetheless, it would be interesting to know if the A-D wing held area, span and/or aspect ratio constant.
