I thought I might ask here if anyone knows if the name, Milam (pronounced Mī'ləm), is a shortened version of the name, Mileham. Is Mileham pronounced Mīl'ham or Mīl'həm? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ElderHap (talk • contribs) 04:03, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I thought it might be like the word, Buckingham, which some people pronounce "Buk'ing•əm". ElderHap (talk) 21:44, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
As a resident, I can confirm that locally the village name of Mileham is pronounced Mī'ləm with a silent H. Phyllostachys (talk) 16:33, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
The uncited reference to Sir Harold Button and the place name Umphington (added in https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Mileham&direction=prev&oldid=977105430) appear to be unfounded/bogus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonknox (talk • contribs) 21:11, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- I agree, unfounded/bogus. Umphington doesn't appear to exist and no one in the village has ever mentioned a Sir Harold Button. Phyllostachys (talk) 08:32, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
