Listing uses for the aircraft

[edit]

User Paul venter added a note that "Drones have been used to gain unprecedented aerial views of whale and porpoise migrations" and referenced this http://www.lifebuzz.com/drone/. I removed it because it is very promotional, not specific to this particular manufacturer's aircraft and noted that drones are used for photographing everything, so I didn't see any point in making a list of everything that can be photographed from a drone. We don't list everything that the Lockheed U-2 has photographed or any other reconnaissance aircraft. Furthermore the ref text and video do not mention the drone by brand and so there is nothing to establish that it is a MikroKopter and not some other type of small drone. - Ahunt (talk) 18:49, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have been reviewing all the refs in the "applications" section and only two mention MikroKopter at all. The rest have no connection to this manufacturer. These might belong in Unmanned aerial vehicle or Quadcopter, but unless the ref is about this company these don't belong here. I will do a clean up. - Ahunt (talk) 19:01, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I have cleaned up and reorganized the article and removed all the text and refs that are not about this company or its products. The only remaining one is that mentioned above which I have tagged. As noted that is no indication in the ref text or in the video that this was a MikroKopter product. This needs an additional ref at least to show that it was a company product in use and the case also has to be made as to why this one particular use is notable more than any other of thousands of possible uses. - Ahunt (talk) 19:22, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It has been a week now with no ref that shows that this is actually about a MikroKopter aircraft and no ref that shows why this one video mission is notable, so as per WP:SILENCE we now have consensus to remove it, which I will do so. It can be re-added any time with a proper ref and something that indicates notability. - Ahunt (talk) 19:02, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This 'discussion' is in fact a monologue with Ahunt being the only participant - having 'consensus' with oneself is obviously nonsensical. Paul venter (talk) 19:56, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Actually that is not the case, please see WP:SILENCE. - Ahunt (talk) 20:34, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Once again I have gone through the refs and text you added line-by-line. Only one ref even mentions this company or their products, the rest do not and so I have removed the irrelevant refs and the text not supported by any relevant refs. The text you added was also very promotional and not suitable for an encyclopedia article. - Ahunt (talk) 20:46, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of referenced material

[edit]

User Ahunt commented on his second removal of material from the 'Applications' section "Drones have been used to photograph just about everything, so we aren't going to start a list here of everything they have photographed, it's not notable. If you think this should be included please make a case on the talk page." It is not my intention to 'start a list here of everything they have photographed' - that would be extreme. There are relatively few applications described in this section and my feeling is that the drone's usefulness to animal conservation groups deserves inclusion. Consequently I am replacing the deleted contribution and invite Ahunt to discuss his reasons on this page. Paul venter (talk) 18:51, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion is already started see above - Ahunt (talk) 18:59, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
