Nomination as "political party office" in box at end of article

[edit]

I have reverted a box added to the bottom of the article about the article subject being the Republican nominee for governor and listing this nomination as a "political party office" [1]. This is not a party office, and its inclusion seems excessive and unnecessary. I'm not sure why these are being added to many local and state articles recently, as the content is already covered in the body of the article. Some people unsuccessful run for dozens of offices, and so why we should start including these nominations as separate boxes? I have not seen a single major politician have these boxes on their article, such as members of Congress or U.S. presidents. – notwally (talk) 15:23, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There are quite a lot of politicians with those boxes. See Dianne Feinstein, George W. Bush, Al Gore, Mitt Romney, and Wendell Ford for a few examples. 2601:249:9301:D570:29CA:85DF:7AD8:1F48 (talk) 05:02, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct, but please also see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. This is especially relevant if these changes are the result of a small number of editors making mass changes. But more important is WP:VERIFY. Where are the sources describing party nominations as a "political party office"? – notwally (talk) 02:45, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
