Misleading text on Tax Cuts

One editor added a sentence suggesting that the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act increased tax revenues. The text is problematic for two reasons: (1) It's WP:SYNTH. The source[1] is not about Braun or his statement. (2) The sentence does not accurately reflect the source, as the source clearly notes that while tax revenue increased after the passage of the bill, the claim that the bill caused the revenue increase is dubious. Snooganssnoogans, nowhere did I imply that the tax cuts were the cause of the revenue increase. However, the fact that revenue did increase goes against the previous statement, which says that debt was expected to rise as a result. Politifact says, "If you look at the sheer number of dollars collected, irrespective of inflation and without regard to the size of the overall economy or other factors, taxes went up very slightly." That supports what is said in the article. I'd like to ask you to restore what you deleted, and while your edit, stop following me around to different pages in order to revert my edits. Please read this very carefully: Correlation does not imply causation. If you can't understand the fallacy even after both glancing at the Wikipedia article and reading the PolitiFact article which you yourself added (which explains why tax revenue can increase, despite a fiscally irresponsible action), I don't know what I can do for you. If you can't see that nowhere in my statement on the talk page or on the article, which is just a reworded version of what's in the PolitiFact article, does not imply that the tax cuts caused the increased revenue, I think you're hopeless. Also, please see WP:Notforum, which makes it clear that Wikipedia is not the place to share your general views on the tax policy, but only to discuss improvements to the article. Snooganssnoogans, the synthesis rule states: "Do not combine material from multiple sources to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by any of the sources. Similarly, do not combine different parts of one source to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by the source. If one reliable source says A, and another reliable source says B, do not join A and B together to imply a conclusion C that is not mentioned by either of the sources." The material that I added does not combine anything from multiple sources. It simply states what one source, the Politico article, said, and does so without reference to Braun. [2] The article should be updated to reflect that, especially the sentence in the lead "He is scheduled to face Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly in the November 2018 general election", which needs to be made past tense to reflect his win. 2018 - Did he or was he not used to be a Democrat before 2012?

I noticed when the preview that Google had of this page said Braun was a Democrat before 2012, but the "other political affiliations" field in the info box has been removed? Did he used to be a Democrat? Jimw338 (talk) 12:40, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Editors continue to use biased language to describe Mike Braun’s relationship with President Donald Trump. E.g. President Trump tried to “coerce” a foreign leader to investigate Joe Biden. Reasonable people could find the use of “coerce” to evidence an improper bias since the President was exonerated by the Senate. Better to use “prompt.” Next example: editors stated that “President Trump refused to concede and made false claims of election fraud, Braun defended Trump's attempt to subvert the election”. Democrat before 2012 not supported by source

This article claims Braun was a democrat prior to 2012, but the source clearly indicates that he has always been a hardline republican. While he might have voted in democratic primaries, this is common in areas dominated by one party and does not indicate affiliation with the party in question, which Braun has stated himself. Claim of defending subversion of democracy not supported by reference

Claim that "Braun defended Trump's attempt to overturn the election results and subvert the democratic process" is not found in Indianapolis Star article. Not clear if this claim is referring to anything specific or is just editorializing.
