To-do list for Microsoft mobile services:

¿Is this article really necessary? (maybe some sort of split or make it a collection/list of mobile services)
[edit]As far as I can tell there are several full articles about Microsoft's mobile services, maybe this article isn't what it needs to be, maybe it should become some sort of list with links to them, now it has half-duplicate material, and half outdated collections, I think that it would be better if we'd include more links to Microsoft's other mobile services through re-organizing this article into a list like what happens when you type in "Google Mobile" for example. Sincerely, --Namlong618 (talk) 16:23, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- Comment As by viewing this page's history at the time of this comment this entire page was merely a leftover of a reverted merger with the Bing Mobile and MSN Mobile pages and contained duplicate information and was a "start-class" article with no sources, since then this page has greatly been expanded, and unsourced material has either been removed or referenced, this user's question is now (July 2015) obsolete and doesn't reflect the current scope of the article. --42.113.73.178 (talk) 05:33, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Imaging apps in introduction
[edit]IN Microsoft Mobile's services section the reference to the Lumia imaging apps is introductory, the sub-section exists to give more details. --Lumia930uploader (talk) 09:41, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
Two question..
Should we arrange this list alphabetically.
Should other services broken down into sub sections based on... any idea???

Removal of content and no justification of it
[edit]Several users have removed content, the first one claiming a criteria but quotes no actual wiki policy and the second one simply stating it as "irrelevant" despite coming from the same section of the page where the rest of the more recent content was moved from, before removing it again I suggest for these editors to go to the talk page before removing entire sections again, as far as I can see it's relevant to include discontinued services as this has always been the case on Wikipedia, and as per WP:NOTABILITY if it was once notable, it'll always be notable, and nowhere does it say that this is exclusively a list of current Microsoft Mobile Services. --42.113.73.231 (talk) 00:39, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- Renaming the Microsoft Mobile section as Lumia won't be better categorization as most of these other services are either directly linked with (Dvlup, software updater), or applications available for Lumia (Microsoft Math, Data Gathering and others), so the present organization fits, and so far all these services have in common is that they were developed by the former Nokia division which compromises a lot more than just "Lumia". --42.113.73.231 (talk) 00:44, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
"Other services" is a bad idea
[edit]The present line out includes product divisions, though some parts may be outdated (e.g. Windows Live, Skype Wi-Fi which is set to be renamed Microsoft Wi-Fi), the former Nokia services share the fact that they were made by what used to be Nokia's devices and services employees, video games contains this differentiation to exclude Microsoft Studios' games. Anyhow I just want to show my objections towards reorganizing it in any way that would make this less clear to readers. --42.113.73.231 (talk) 02:52, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
This is a great article but does it includes all the services of Microsoft since 1985. Can anyone help
[edit]This is a great article but does it includes all the services of Microsoft since 1985. Can anyone help 144.36.230.76 (talk) 05:03, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
- This is a list type article and requires expansion, anyone can help as Wikipedia is free to edit, I think that by the definition of "Mobile Services" the original author of the page probably meant on mobile devices such as PDAs, smartphones, and feature phones as opposed to laptops, notebooks, netbooks, etcetera, on which Microsoft has only been active since 2001, and this list contains less than half of these services. --42.113.73.231 (talk) 06:10, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
Non-Microsoft Categories
[edit]Recently @Ocexyz: removed several categories under the guise of "Removed false categories in context of this article added for commercial or advertising purposes, removed advertising, removed falsification." I will here debunk this and will write why each individual category is completely relevant in the context of this article.
Category:Android (operating system) software these are services available for the Android plaform:
- Microsoft Office Lens
- Microsoft Outlook Mobile
- Microsoft OneDrive Mobile
- Microsoft Office Mobile
- MSN News
- MSN Money
- MSN Sports
- MSN Weather
- MSN Food & Drink
- MSN Health & Fitness
- Bing
- Cortana (announced)
- Skype
- Skype Wi-Fi
- GroupMe
- Skype Qik
- Groove Music
- Xbox LIVE
- Remote Desktop
- Xbox 360 SmartGlass
- Xbox One SmartGlass
Category:IOS software These are services available for iPods, iPhones, and iPads:
- Microsoft Outlook Mobile
- Microsoft OneDrive Mobile
- Microsoft Office Mobile
- MSN News
- MSN Money
- MSN Sports
- MSN Weather
- MSN Food & Drink
- MSN Health & Fitness
- Bing
- Cortana (announced)
- Skype
- GroupMe
- Skype Qik
- Photosynth
- Groove Music
- Xbox LIVE
- Remote Desktop
- Xbox 360 SmartGlass
- Xbox One SmartGlass
Category:Nokia services These are services originally created by Nokia or corporation/company that was acquired by Nokia and eventually added to Microsoft Mobile Oy:
- DVLUP
- Lumia Beta Apps
- Lumia Conversations
- Lumia Imaging apps (Lumia Panorama, Lumia Camera, Etc.)
- Microsoft Data Gathering
- Microsoft Education Delivery
- Microsoft Math
- Microsoft Mobile Devices Community
- Lumia Software Recovery Tool
- Windows Phone Recovery Tool
- JobLens
- InternshipsLens
- Boston University JobLens
- Nokia Store
- MixRadio
- Nokia Mail
- Nokia Chat
- Motion Data
Category:Symbian software:
- Nokia MoMaths (Microsoft Math)
- Nokia Panorama (here as Lumia Panorama)
- Lumia Software Recovery Tool (actually supports Symbian)
- Microsoft Office Mobile
- Windows Live Messenger Mobile
- Hotmail Mobile
Category:MeeGo software:
- Nokia Panorama
- Lumia Software Recovery Tool (actually supports the Nokia N9)
- Windows Live Messenger Mobile
- Hotmail Mobile
And I'm sure that I've missed several applications, but still each category is here for a reason and none of it is either falsification nor advertisement, and if you think that this is unique to this article please go to Spotify which is also listed among Android, iOS, and Symbian software unlike Apple Microsoft does not make software exclusively for its own platform, and in fact Symbian and MeeGo are Microsoft platforms now so removing those categories is even more falsification on your own part.
Before you revert my reversion of your edit please read this and then look at the content, each and every category is referenced and described in the article itself, falsification would be adding desktop OS-related categories (as this article only describes mobile applications). --Hoang the Hoangest (talk) 08:56, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- Personally I'm getting sick of Nokia and Linux fanboys mass deleting content from Microsoft-related pages for no other reason than the fact that they hate Microsoft and want to remove any reference of Nokia, Symbian, MeeGo and other things in the mere history of these services, for the past year Nokia fanboys have constantly been removing Nokia and Microsoft history for reason no other than the claim that people who want to write Microsoft-related articles to actually match Wikipedia's standards are "employees of Microsoft", so far I've reverted almost all of these deletionists and it's great to see that so far a lot of Nokia fanboys have grown to defend the content and the encyclopedial integrity of these Nokia & Microsoft-related articles, but the moment people start calling facts as "advertisement" and "falsification" I'm going to take this personally, of course the larger deletion has calmed down over the last few months and almost all Nokia+Microsoft articles are largely free of these anti-Microsoft trolls, the problem is that they're on almost every language of Wikipedia, I've reverted them on German, Spanish, Dutch, French, and many other versions of Wikipedia, Microsoft bought Nokia's devices and services business and got almost all patents related to design and trademarks of Asha, Symbian, numbered, Mobira, SXX, MeeGo, Maemo, and other devices, deal with it, and if Microsoft got these services too they deserve to be mentioned on a page that discusses the services Microsoft supports that originally ran on Symbian and MeeGo this is not falsification in any way, nor is this an advertisement, what use would it be to advertise to a defunct operating system like MeeGo that literally no one of any importance cares about? Why would people want to advertise Microsoft services on Symbian which yes, may have been the Android of the 2000"s but is now effectively defunct and is maintained by Accenture, Microsoft Mobile Oy, and Avanade until only 2016 with absolutely no new models coming out? to call these categories "advertisements" is blatantly wrong, over the past month I've successfully fended off these attacks on Microsoft articles and the sole attack left is this one, these services belong there, and the categories belong here, let me list more Symbian and MeeGo software mentioned in this article.
- Symbian:
- Skype
- Nokia Mail
- Nokia Chat
- Nokia Store
- Nokia Data Gathering (Microsoft Data Gathering)
- Nokia Education Delivery (Microsoft Education Delivery)
- MeeGo:
- Skype
- Nokia Mail
- Nokia Chat
- Nokia Store
- Nokia Data Gathering (Microsoft Data Gathering)
- Nokia Education Delivery (Microsoft Education Delivery)
- And I'm still sure that I've missed a few here, please do not remove these categories again.

- I understand and agree with your message but please for the sake of civility follow assume good faith of others, to me it seems as if both parties were focused more on their emotions than staying civil. --58.187.228.171 (talk) 01:03, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
Skype for Business Mobile
[edit]Should Skype for Business and by extend Lync be mentioned in the Skype or in the Office section? I can see how Microsoft still advertises it as a part of Microsoft Office but it has the Skype branding thus it's thereby effectively a part of Skype. --58.187.165.40 (talk) 00:44, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Microsoft Stream
[edit]The Microsoft Stream article should be developed. Isn't that a rebranding of Microsoft Office 365 Video? If so, both that article and this article's section on Microsoft Office 365 Video should be updated. MaynardClark (talk) 19:43, 20 June 2017 (UTC)
