Add Citations to "Causes" Section

[edit]

I add citations as needed. This originally section included no sources. I updated the citations where it was requested and where I thought they were necessary. I added one additional source to the list of references.

Updated "Treatment" Section

[edit]

This section was very sparse with only 2 sentences and no citations. I tried to expand this section with proper citation. Much of my writing focuses on socket expansion, preventing facial asymmetry, and ocular protheses. I also tried to make the language slightly less technical. No new references were added (they are already listed on the page as sources).

Updated Photos

[edit]

Returned original image to upper right portion of article. Despite concerns expressed previously, it appears that it is an image of a person with microphthalmia.

Reworded Portion of "Epidemiology" Section

[edit]

I changed "The most extensive epidemiological survey" to "An extensive epidemiological survey". This wording is more accurate.

Added Pictures

[edit]

I replaced the picture in the upper right corner of the article. I also added a picture in the "Diagnosis" section.

Updated "Diagnosis" Section

[edit]

There was no information available in this section of the article. I am writing two paragraphs focused on diagnosing microphthalmia. I will add citations along with links to Wikipedia pages when possible. Also, I will attach links to Wikipedia pages for several terms in other parts of the article.

Roughly one hour later, I changed the word "patients" to "individuals" in the second paragraph of this section.

Added Citation to "Epidemiology" Section

[edit]

A citation was needed in the "Epidemiology" section so I added it. The source was already listed in the references.

Update to Intro and Presentation Sections

[edit]

I am editing the introduction and "Presentation" section of this article. I changed some of the wording in the introduction to make it clearer. Additionally, I expanded this section by adding "ANOPHTHALMIA" with a link to the Wikipedia page for this condition. I also provided an explanation of "NANOPHTHALMOS". I could not attach a link to this term because no Wikipedia page exists for this condition.

I added citations to these sections and updated the sources as well.

Misleading picture?

[edit]

This picture seems to be that of someone demonstrating their Duane syndrome. The eye is not necessarily smaller, the characteristic retraction just makes it temporarily appear so. This article needs a better more unambiguous picture. Mmyers1976 (talk) 00:29, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
