Woman's Hour

[edit]

She was interviewed on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour show at about 10:30 GMT. I only caught a bit of it. Could be worth adding. Tigerboy1966  15:25, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quote out of context

[edit]

From: http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/sport/288777/prince-of-penzance-wins-melbourne-cup

"Darren Weir has given me a go and it's such a chauvinistic sport. I know some of the owners were keen to kick me off Prince, and [co-owner] John Richards and Darren stuck really solid with me," she said.

"I put in all the effort I could. I galloped him every gallop he had, and did everything I could to stay on him, because I thought he had what it takes to run a race in the Melbourne Cup.

"I just can't say how grateful I am to them. I just want to say to everyone else, [they can] get stuffed, because they think women aren't strong enough and we just beat the world."

@Kiwi128: I don't think the article should use only the last line --- it makes it appear she is saying everyone should 'get stuffed' when the sequence of statements makes it clear she is talking about 'chauvinistic' people in the horse racing world and in particular 'some of the owners'. I will remove it again. Regards, Ariconte (talk) 02:44, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think the quote should stay, she's a strong woman and no one is going to misunderstand what she meant. It is a very good encapsulation of who she is. And those who disagree can also... well... that... Montanabw(talk) 03:07, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

An anonymous user made some edits today about Payne's early life, however as these did not have any reliable source attached to them I have removed them. If the information can be verified in a reliable source (e.g. newspaper article, magazine profile etc) then please add the sources with the information. Thanks.
