Incorrect information
[edit]The article states that the person is a vice-president of the international institute of sociology, which is erroneous: http://www.iisoc.org/. In the same way, the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne does not mention Michel Maffesoli among its employees. Finally, he is mentioned as an editor (and not the director) of Sociétés, and as a member of the board (and not the scientific committee) of Space and Culture. But he is not quoted among the members of Social Movement Studies or Sociologia Internationalis. Finally, it would be fair to present the fact that he founded the Cahiers européens de l'imaginaire. 86.177.20.107 (talk) 13:40, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

[edit]I have very sadly read this article on Wikipedia, that depicts Maffesoli as a fraud and a street crook, which, along my many years in university, never appeared neither to me, nor to any on my colleages or students. I spent years in France and saw many times over one journalist, some teachers at the Descartes Universty (who now as i checked, ironically teach "sociologie du quotidien" and "sociologie de l'imaginaire") and a handful of others disparage Maffesoli. But never in such an unshameful and ridiculous way. I'm not saying that the information is wrong, but it shouldn't be what your contribution is about.
Now please, Europe22, as the nearly only contributor here, peole are actually using Wikipedia, we read article, believe in their bona fides. My students use it as a source of information.

-- I would submit that the entry is not yet critical enough. You do not seem to realise that Michel Maffesoli is, very literally, the most popular joke among French sociologists. You will find very large amounts of evidence online to support that fact, some of which appears on his Wikipedia Francophone entry.
