Major developments; Duplication of material from related Wikipedia article
[edit]In late-October, 2020, a string of explosive developments in the scandal emerged suddenly, including two apparently secret audio recordings -- one clearly implicating Capps, in his own words, in the smear campaign; the other recording his retaliatory threats to the Sedgwick County Republican Party -- both of which were made public. I captured most of this information, and entered it, concisely, in the article Michael O'Donnell (politician). In the interest of time and practical effort, I mostly duplicated that text here, as well (since it involves both of these men as partners in the venture).
At 12:30, 27 October 2020, I added much text to the section "2019 Wichita Mayor election" -- duplicated specifically from the Michael O'Donnell (politician)#Defamation Conspiracy Charges in Mayoral Race section (almost entirely my own edits of that article, October 26-27, 2020) as they appeared 27 October 2020, at 11:35.; I made some deletions or rewrites, as appropriate for this article, and to avoid duplicating other editors' work -- and noted this copying in the "Edit summary."
Around 2025, much of this should be condensed.
[edit]While the depth of detail in this article is presently relevant and important encyclopedic content about this public figure, much of it will become, in time, less essential material. Accordingly, it would be appropriate, in a few years (probably by 2025) to condense much of the material herein (most of which I've written), as long as care is taken to not dilute, obscure or dismiss the gravity of these matters. In the meantime, however, this detail IS quite relevant, important, timely and presently signficant enough for encyclopedic content in this WP:BLP-based biography of a notable public figure.
