Vandalism

[edit]

Someone keeps changing the homepage link to metacafe.org.uk which is definitely not the real Metacafe homepage. Petska 16:32, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hahaha what a crappy page (metacafe.org.uk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.140.139.35 (talk) 00:51, 8 January 2007

Costs

[edit]

Does it cost anything to become a member at metacafe? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.234.210.11 (talk) 16:51, 17 July 2007

I know. Don't forget to include downloading videos there is free. You can see the music video for The Way I Feel (12 Stones song) there.

Bias?

[edit]

Quick question, -----the introduction does not feel neutral, or really appropriate for the section, does nothing to describe really what metacafe is, just that it is similar to youtube. So someone with no knowledge of either would need to look up youtube? Also, almost feels like an employee for metacafe wrote the article. 205.246.4.80 03:10, 12 November 2007 (UTC)205.246.4.80 03:10, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to a source (recently former employee), most of the SF staff is no longer with the company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.18.169.64 (talk) 22:58, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should we mention this?

[edit]

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I think there needs to be a mention about the viruses on the website. Metacafe always seems to have an "unsafe" rating from antivirus programs. --I'm a Graduate! (talk) 18:47, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Chris[reply]

Uploading doesn't work with metacafe anymore.

[edit]

They don't announce it but submitting a video does not work anymore.

This doesn't work. I think it's been broken for years.

Please try it yourself to confirm.

I may or may not edit the article to edit and add it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by User9733 (talkcontribs) 06:23, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is original research. This channel has uploads up to March 2014, but it is a long time since I uploaded anything to Metacafe myself. This is something that would need a reliable secondary source.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:43, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's right there. It doesn't work for normal users. They all probably have to be "partners" or get some kind of special permission or something. You can login and try it yourself or use this throw away name I made for you: e-mail: "throwawayname2@yahoo.com" password: "password". The source is self-evident on the site itself. User9733 (talk) 23:21, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a screen grab of the current Metacafe dashboard, with a newly created account. The words "Submit New Videos" and "Upload" are hyperlinked to http://www.metacafe.com/submit/upload/ and http://www.metacafe.com/submit/ . Both of these produced the result "We're sorry, but the requested page was not found." So it is not looking good for uploads to Metacafe, but it is still a puzzle that this channel appears to have working uploads in March 2014. Possibly uploads have been disabled for new users, but there is nothing about this in the forums. So I have used the contact form to ask Metacafe and am waiting on a reply.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:52, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No reply as yet. The lead section says "In its early years, Metacafe was similar to other video viewing websites such as YouTube or Dailymotion, but has since transformed itself into a short-form video entertainment site with several differences. The site now showcases curated, exclusive and original premium entertainment-related video content." This appears to be an accurate description of how the site now works.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:47, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Metacafe. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
