I really don't see the need for this article. The area defined as being "Merton Abbey" is about a ¼ mile east-west and a ½ mile north-south and contains only about 15 to 20 roads most of which are short cul-de-sacs. Nearly half the area is taken up by commercial premises. This are is not really large enough to be described as a district of Merton nor a suburb, and I think most people who know the area would consider it to be Colliers Wood although they might say they were going to Merton Abbey if they were visiting the market.
Much of the information here is is taken from the Merton (historic parish) article and does not need repeating here. Some of the additional information - the remains of the Abbey in gardens in Liberty Road, the note about the Pickle Ditch and the old LIB dialling code might be worth adding to either the general Merton article or the Merton Priory article.
