Rename
[edit]Proper name is "merit badge"; disambiguate with (Scouting Ireland) to differentiate it from the BSA program. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 19:50, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

merge
[edit]These articles should be merged together, the name I propose is Advancement in Scouting Ireland, to encompass present and past histories-by themselves they will go nowhere. I further propose to split out the ONE Scout programme from Scouting Ireland, to be the core of this new article, as there is a precedent for smaller, trimmed articles:
- Ranks in the Boy Scouts of America
- Ranks in Polish Scouting
- Ranks in Gerakan Pramuka Indonesia
- Ranks in the Scout Association of Japan
and probably several others I've missed.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 04:56, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
- Agree but title should be something like "Merit badges in Scouting Ireland" as that is the more universal terminology, and also it is separate to advancement (personal competence != responsibility), also "ONE programme (Scouting Ireland)" Bogger (talk) 12:41, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Bogger: Not following, so what I will do is set up the article under the name I proposed, you take a look at what I've done, feel free to rename and move stuff around as you see fit. The reason I named it as I did is because it is in line with other Scouting articles and does not denote a particular program or timeframe.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 06:32, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
