Despite what far too many editors have tried to tell me, WP:ELdoes allow for social networking sites to be added as external links. Myspace meets the criteria at WP:ELNEVER, as it does not violate copyrights and it's not a blacklisted site. Myspace also meets the criteria at WP:ELYES as it's the band's official website and it's hosting a free source of the media in question, Meridional. WP:ELNO clearly states that social network sites should only be avoided if they are not the official site of the subject. It also complies with WP:ELOFFICIAL, in that Norma Jean's myspace contains relevant blog entries regarding the recording and release of the album, directly from the band as it gives "the reader the opportunity to see what the subject says about itself." Even further meeting the criteria of WP:EL, the blogs and streaming of Meridional are expected to stay around for a while, giving it longevity. It's only the style and what's written in the band's "about me" section that frequently changes. Nor have I exhausted a list of Norma Jean's social networking sites. I have only posted the one. This isn't the myspace link for Meridional. It is the link for Norma Jean. And the article doesn't add anything new to the article. BOVINEBOY200817:30, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can you show me where in this article I can stream Meridional in full? Or even a sample of one of the songs? If someone completely unfamiliar with Norma Jean was curious what this album sounded like, how could we as editors help them out? The blogs also go into further details of what I have written in the "Release and promotion" section. Please refrain from enforcing a general guideline as if it were a concrete policy, and use a little common sense. Obviously this not the official myspace page for Meridional, as none are likely to exist, the information is directly related to the album and was created by people directly related to the album, and it still adds something to this wikipedia page. This isn't a place to advertise what the band sounds like. This is for information only. We shouldn't add links that are basically advertising the band. If a user wanted to stream the entire album, they should be looking in an encyclopedia. I'm sorry you aren't on the bandwagon like everyone else about this guideline. Perhaps you should bring it up with the project. BOVINEBOY200817:57, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
