Tidy
[edit]I have tidied it a bit, but still needs to be worked on more, to describe the different phases and developments in the era of merchant capitalism, and some of the controversies among historians about it. User:Jurriaan 4:55 16 June 2007 (UTC)
I brought the page back from a plain redirect since it's my understanding that mercantilism is a pseudo-macroeconomic theory as opposed to a method of production. 66.233.137.186 (talk) 12:01, 8 January 2009 (UTC) User:joel.a.davis
The current article is not terribly informative to anyone not already familiar with the subject. It does not give an adequate explanation of what merchant capitalism is, for one thing - sure, it's an early form of capitalism, but what exactly distinguishes it from the types of capitalism the article compares it to? Needs an overhaul from an expert on the subject. 76.193.19.74 (talk) 15:11, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
