[edit]Few newspapers have proofreaders anymore. Proofreading duties at many newspapers are handled by copy editors. The Sun-Star has five-person copy desk. Mercedsunstar
Why does this accurate information keep getting deleted from this page? I think that Merced Sun-Star writers and editors should identify themselves when they contribute to, or delete material from, this article. Mercedboy07 20:36, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
It wasn't entirely accurate. Now it's a better reflection of the newspaper's columnists. Sorry about not logging in first before making the change. Mercedsunstar
Columnists
[edit]The newspaper's columnists often provide nostalgic information from the perspective of older people. One columnist, Bill Sanford, is a retired Methodist minister. His column includes his memories of being a Methodist minister as well as commentary on contemporary social issues. [1]. Another columnist, Judy La Salle, is a retired parole officer. Her column includes her memories of being a parole officer. She also writes opinion pieces, often relating to matters of personal and public morality. [2] Other recent topics include how chicken does not taste as good as it used to [3] and why spitting is bad [4].
