History

[edit]

Menchie's opened its first store in Valley Village, a suburban community of Los Angeles, California, on May 15, 2007. The Menchie's concept emerged from a story of husband & wife team Danna & Adam Caldwell, and their common love of frozen yogurt.

Menchie, the company mascot, is an integral part of the brand. Along with Menchie, they incorporated a unique self-serve store design featuring various selections of rotating frozen yogurt and toppings. The first store received community support and after receiving several franchise inquiries, Danna and Adam decided to turn their business model into a franchise. In 2008, Elie Balas and Amit Kleinberger partnered with them to begin franchising. Under Kleinberger’s leadership as CEO, Menchie's became the leading frozen yogurt franchise worldwide.

Menchie’s CEO was also featured on two episodes of Undercover Boss, airing on October 25, 2013 and March 7, 2014.
