Notes
[edit]Note #1 refers to "Bopearachchi (1998) and (1991)" but in the References section there is just a 1993 and a 1991. Bopearachchi did write a book in 1998, _Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum: American Numismatic Society, part 9, Graeco-Bactrian and Indo-Greek Coins_, which gives "ca. 165 or 155-30 BC". So fix the Note or add the Reference... --Esnible —Preceding comment was added at 02:51, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Place of birth
[edit]Does anyone know of his place of birth?
Indic form of his name
[edit]Article currently reads:
It is true that he is called Milinda in the Milindapañha, but on coins he seems to have used the form MENADRA (cf. the legend "MAHARAJA TRATASA MENADRASA" shown in this very article). This should probably be pointed out, but honestly as I'm not familiar with Sanskrit and Pāli sources that mention him, I'm not certain how it should be phrased. --Iustinus 07:43, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:AgathokleiaMintmark.jpg
[edit]Image:AgathokleiaMintmark.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Opinion
[edit]"This type of discussion was known to ancient Greeks as a "sozo", it is important for Buddhists to understand the cultural context in which this discussion was held." Aside from being a run-on sentence, this is opinion, and I move it be removed. 216.160.98.121 (talk) 07:48, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
I would also suggest the sentence be deleted. So far as I know there is no ancient Greek word 'sozo' that corresponds with the meaning 'dialog'. Σόζω (sozo) is an ancient Greek verb meaning to save (1st per. pres. sing act.), but it is never (again so far as I know) used to connotate any sort of communication. 64.124.28.131 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:13, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Since this article pops up when searching for "Menander," shouldn't there be a disambiguation with http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Menander, the Greek poet of New Comedy? It'sWhom (talk) 22:17, 11 June 2008 (UTC) |
