Beginning

[edit]

A beginning of a military memorial site and the historic entrance gates to the University of Saskatchewan which relates the comments of the plaques which are included as image sources or references. Could be yet expanded SriMesh | talk 02:01, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been tagged for a speedy deletion due to advertising? I have absolutely no connection with the University of Saskatchewan other than living in the same city. It has been a joy to learn about the University of Saskatchewan and how it serves the community provincially, nationally and internationally as the U of S celebrates its centennial year. This article Memorial Gates (University of Saskatchewan) was begun to reduce red links on the main University of Saskatchewan article as it goes to feature status. The prose of the article is that which was written to commemorate the fallen world war veterans. I don't know how a war memorial could possibly in any stretch of the imagination be advertising anything other than sorrow or respect for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the country. It is beyond me how this tag came to be one the article. Please do reply and explain to me what the advertising part is all about. Also I don't know how an article which shows its primary source for the article basis can possibly be considered spam. It is not made up! These fine folks really did pass on serving their country, it is an embarrassment and an outrage that it would be considered spam. What has happened to our country? There are also quite a few other memorial sites such as Dury Memorial Courcelette Memorial and so on. This article seems to be the same as these articles. SriMesh | talk 20:49, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:WAX. I"m just concerned because there's not a lot in the article, it doesn't seem notable, and nothing is cited. University buildings aren't generally notable unless they're historic. See also WP:EiC. GreenJoe 20:57, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
From WP:EiC, it was decided that historic university or college buildings are notable. I am working on several articles to improve the lot in relation to the U of S. Tis getting late now, so will open some of the Canadian military memorials and cemeterie articles to find one that has a higher rating, to see what is needed to be done to improve the prose of this article. It started with a minimal amount of prose, I know, and that centered mainly around the engravings themselves. Will let you know in the next couple of days of the improvements. Thank you for the WP:WAX didn't know this was around, it certainly will help considerably. SriMesh | talk 03:02, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
