Confusion as to Sir Graham Waddell
[edit]There is some confusion as to when Sir Graham Waddell was a member of the Council.
- The Parliamentary Record at Part 3 lists him as being a member from 23 April 1934 until 22 April 1943, finishing on the expiry of his term. (page 40) His parliamentary biography shows the same & this is consistent with usage on wikipedia.
- The results of the 1933 election, published in the gazette do not show Waddells as winning a seat in 1934, nor does the Council Hansard for 24 April 1934. The results of the 1935 election, published in the gazette show Waddell as winning a seat, which would not happen if he had won a 9 year term in 1934. He appears to have served until 1949 when he did not seek re-election.
I have tentatively taken the approach to use the contemporaneous records of his serving from 1937 to 1949, but am happy to discuss. --Find bruce (talk) 06:02, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
- What little I have found on Trove backs this up. Great pickup, and it isn't the first time there's been errors like this; I remember the parliamentary page for Eileen Furley being wrong for years, although it seems it's been fixed up. Frickeg (talk) 07:46, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
